  1. Judging I have a Marlin Model 60 that my father bought me as a kid, with a 15 round tube magazine, I'll leave this state very quickly. That rifle WILL NOT be sold, and if someone does attempt to take it, I'll take out a mortgage to fight it in court (guess no official has ever heard of due process before). And I've stated that in every email I have sent (moving part). The only guns I really wanted to pick up was a 1911 and a [compliant] AK. Guess I'm done buying things, if it goes that route.
  2. Think this is the most recent one... Spikes M4 upper with Adams Arms piston kit (installed by Spikes). Lower was a stripped DPMS, which I picked up prior to the 2008 election. The change since that picture is the Rainier Arms ambidextrous charging handle... which I really like.
  3. Magazines cannot be over 15 rounds. Also, you cannot make it an "assault weapon." Since it is semi-automatic, it can only have one of the following; bayonet lug, pistol grip, folding/telescoping stock, flash hider/threaded barrel, or grenade launcher. Since most stocks that fold or adjust length have a pistol grip, no go on them.
  4. Understatement of the year... at least the second half. Sometimes, they tell you something that makes no sense. I brought two people there that never shot before, both women, and talked to one employee about what I was going to start them on. I felt a Beretta CX4 would be best, since there is more support (long gun) with a smaller caliber (9mm). NOPE! I was TOLD that they were to use a 9mm Glock (both were smaller framed, and nervous). It wasn't a problem if they just gave an opinion, but I've been shooting for quite some time, so don't tell me how to show a new shooter how to shoot... especially ones that I knew were not going to be comfortable with a handgun. I guess it was just the arrogance that came off from it that got me annoyed. I already posted my view of both, and since I'm using NJ Arms as my primary FFL, I'm likely going to move to CJRPC as my range. I'm just tired of all of the Lakewood crap. Both SS and BA are about 10 minutes from my house, which just pisses me off that neither does one thing right (FFL or range). I have a membership at BA for another year, so I'll make the move before this one ends.
  5. On my PU sniper and SKS, I used Minwax Golden Oak, then sealed it with their Wipe-On Poly.
  6. I'm not surprised at the Facebook post... I'll agree, there are two sides to every story, but I'll side against a shabby store that I've personally had bad experiences with (if it was SS of a few years ago, I'd have sided with them; not in the current state). Hope the original posters get it all straightened out. And since I guess they are watching this thread, I stopped using your shop months ago... after being treated like garbage by your employees, and then having one try to get more "fees" out of a Davidson's transfer... which I've had family members also notice in other purchases. Your loss, since I do tend to buy multiple firearms each year. Best thing that could have happen, since I now use a FFL that is honest and trustworthy (Paul at NJ Arms).
  7. Urban ERT in a single point setup off my ACE Entry stock. I use the same sling on my Beretta CX4. I run a MS3 on my 870 Police, which is my home defense gun. I leave it in two point, but can easily switch to single point. No interest in running one on my AR, but it is a very good sling. To be honest, I prefer single point over two point...
  8. Good suggestion. I picked up a PU sniper, which has a 3.5x scope. If you take the traditional view of scopes verses distance, should be good for 350 yards. Ammo is also cheaper, if you go into the 440 round cans. Just need to clean good after shooting.
  9. It is a discontinued BSA red-dot, which Houts used to sell. Got it mainly to cowitness with the iron sights. Looking at their website, the model number is MR30BK.
  10. I have one of the older 9mms... they changed the texture on the forend and added tabs so the safety cannot move when placing the gun on its side (more of a feature from the MX4). It costs a little more than other similar guns, but is worth it on my eyes. Having both a 92 and PX4 in 9mm, I can run it with either magazine. Would have considered a.45, but Beretta never released one that accepts PX4 magazines... which I also have.
  11. Davidson's had about 30 of them, when I ordered the Wednesday before the Newtown shooting. Afterwards, both barrel lengths were sold out. Happy I got the 5.5 inch version. It is just like a comparable Colt SAA. I'm probably not going into any competitive shooting with it, but it is a very solid and comfortable gun.
  12. I just got a Ruger New Vaquero Convertible... with cylinders in .45 Colt and .45 ACP. Really happy with it, and gives me the ability to shoot different rounds out of the same gun.
  13. Bill has always been a good guy. I've bought quite a few guns from him, over the years. However, the rest of the people working there are jerk offs, as far as I'm concerned (never had an issue with Ken or Tiny, but I haven't seen them in years). Some of the retired L/E guys are ok, but they aren't the guys I've been seeing the past few times I went in. The last time I saw Kyle... not going to post it on the Internet, but I was shocked.
  14. I don't buy anything from either. Phil from BA lied to me regarding my two M&Ps, telling me at least ten times that they either shipped or will be here on X day. If it is going to take awhile, I don't care, just don't lie to me. My current FFL told me some stories regarding BA and selling firearms that were not theirs to sell (donated for drawings). SS can kiss my ass, as far as I'm concerned. Their only goal in life is to screw their customers, and listening to them talk about one guy who picked up a rifle, I was disgusted that people actually desire to shoot there. Then, they tried to tack on extra fees on my Davidson's purchase. It is at least the fifth time myself or family member has called them out on it, and they still act like it is just a common mistake... it is, being that is how they squeeze money out of people. Ranges, I'm currently a member at BA. Even though I hate being fanned by amateurs, I have no desire to wait on line for a crappy range that SS keeps (might have changed, but I'm not interested in looking; I remember one set of bullet holes going across the ports). I will eventually go to Central Jersey, once I catch up with things... just bought a Liberty safe and a couple guns. My current FFL is NJ Arms. Paul is a down to earth guy, and is honest. That is what I value in an FFL. SS and BA screwed themselves on that, being I'm a person who purchases a couple firearms each year. One of the few hobbies I love, so I'll always be buying new stuff. NJ Arms is one place I'll recommend to anyone.
  15. I had a M44, and hated it. The bayonet made it a pain to store in my safe, and the straight bolt didn't help. Sold it when I got my M1903. I wanted to get back into 7.62x54R, so I picked up a PU sniper that Impact Guns was selling. Really nice gun, and is probably what I should have got in the first place. Whatever you do, stock up on ammo.
  16. I purchased a Lithgow Garand from Sportsmen's Center on Sunday, and I think they faxed it over shortly after. The guy told me to call this morning if I did not hear back from them on Monday. They said they were getting Saturday's purchases this morning, but I did get mine back around 4:00PM. I'm due to pick up a pistol on the 22nd, so I hope the phones come back up by then.
  17. I picked up my AR just before the 2008 election... glad I did, being I had other interests during this mess. Magazines are good, and I have enough ammo until this craze ends. I picked up a Ruger Vaquero a few days before the shooting, and happy being I see them all sold out on Davidson's now. Picked up a Tokarev and Nagant revolver, along with a can of ammo for each. Instead of a 1911, which I probably will be able to get if there is any new legislation, I picked up a SIG P228. Has two 10 rounders and two 13 rounders, but I am kicking myself for not getting some more. Everyone else is sold out of the 13 rounders, but I think I can make due, considering the SIG is more of a collectible in my eyes.
  18. I tried a different FFL through Davidson's... NJ Arms out of Ocean. Couldn't get my gun due to NICS being down, but probably spent an hour talking to the owner, Paul. Extremely nice guy, and very professional. Having dealt with both SS and BA, I will strictly be using NJ Arms for all my FFL stuff. It is a little farther from my home, but I rather deal with someone that is honest and trustworthy... which I cannot say about either of the Lakewood shops.
  19. Thanks. Mine is actually a Police model. I went for the Parkerized finish, since it is my bed gun, but anything that wasn't Parkerized would rust in a month or so (sidesaddle hardware). Since I have sheets over it, didn't want to listen about rust stains on them. Sent it to Robar for NP3+, along with my S&W 642. They also installed the night sights since nobody local wanted to worry about the front base getting knocked off. Very happy with the work, and definitely recommend Robar to anyone.
  20. I went with Magpul... The best 870 setup I've ever shouldered/shot. Once adjusted, it is perfect. Never been a fan of folding stocks on shotguns.
  21. When they try their hardest to tack on extra fees to Davidson's purchases, I told myself that I'll never go there again. And after hearing employees talk about a sale with a customer prior to me, I'll never turn anyone to them, either. I know it is a business, but the employees all came off like jerks, and the people that came in to shoot, who I'm guessing were friend of one employee, would make me walk out if they decided to shoot in the lane next to me (no firearm experience, but each was going to rent X, Y, and Z; were handed guns and ammo and just let out). I'm going to see about using that other FFL out of Brick... Secur-ALL. Seems like a good place, and wouldn't mind using them all the time. I'm a member at Brick Armory, but will never purchase another gun through them (don't like being told multiple times that my guns will be here, then them not when I get down there; went on for a few months).
  22. I had the post office leave my rebuilt M1903 outside, in the rain, when it was sent back after having a replica Unertl scope installed. I was hot when I found out, being I probably have about $3,000 invested in that rifle. My girlfriend got home earlier than me, and pulled it out of the box as soon as she could.
  23. I'm a big PX4 fan (have a 9mm and .45)... and you won't go wrong with it, but I'll add in another argument; aftermarket. Do you want different options for holsters? Other modifications, such as triggers/action upgrades? If so, go M&P. Having two M&Ps, I think they are great options, as well. If you don't like something, you can likely change it. Not a fan of Glock, even though they are good pistols, and the SR9 left a bad taste in my mouth from the early issues.
  24. Not really... comes down to appearance more than anything else.
  25. Steve Bedair is a very good guy. I had/have multiple guide rods from him. He makes the guide rods for the remake SGS compensators that came from a member on the Beretta Forum.
