Anyone else see one of these? TP9SFx Whiteout. The pic makes it look brighter than it is. One of 2000 made. These have an amazing trigger IMO, about on par with a nice 1911. For the money I can't think of a better out of the box competition handgun. This was sitting in my FFL for a couple weeks and I decided to low-ball an offer.
  2. I haven't been an ammo buyer for months, until I walked into my local FFL on Saturday. Scored a case of Federal Hydra Shok 9mm 124gr for $200. Afterwards he said he didn't realize it was all JHP self defense...
  3. This is the point where anyonewith storage capacity should be "buying" these oil contracts - if you can call being paid to take it "buying". Trump should be refilling the Strategic Petroleum Reserve with it. The irony of having speculators paying the US govt to take it is fantastic.
  4. In NH it's much easier to purchase than NJ, but the process still took some first-timers by surprise. Most thought they could walk in, drop some cash on the counter and leave. They got a deer-in-the-headlight look when told they had to fill out the paperwork and wait for a b/c. Oh, and if you had a DWI in MA you're now prohibited. Story going around the local FFLs here is a guy walked in wearing a Bernie t-shirt and wanted to buy a case of 5.56 and an AR, saying "desperate times", and he wanted to buy something in part to stop others from getting any. He left the store with nothing except a couple of angry customers threatening to show him the door if he didn't leave on his own. For first-timers that want it, there are several FFLs and ranges offering free safety course online. hopefully they are taking advantage of it...
  5. The biggest challenge in getting COBOL programmers is the lack of available training. There used to be several excellent technical training programs available commercially, plus colleges. Now? Nothing. When I was last in corporate we developed a "farm team" program to bring in entry-level programmers and taught them COBOL. It was a great way into a corporate career path. It died out from lack of interest since internal turnover among COBOL programmers was nil - right up until they started to retire. The company now struggles to maintain legacy COBOL code as the staff ages out. It forced some significant expense to rewrite systems in a newer language but left much of the back-end in place. Like it or not, mainframe COBOL still processes a significant amount of data behind that web front-end. There is really large payroll processing company based in the US - the one that likely pays half the folks on this board - that still processes it using a COBOL mainframe system.
  6. Does anyone else see the irony in asking for "volunteers" to help with the unemployment system? As an ex-programmer who learned COBOL using punch cards, just what does Murphy think can be accomplished by people unfamiliar with the system in a short enough time frame to help the current situation?
  7. I see so many MA license plates in NH now I have to keep checking where I'm at. Lots of MA residents come into the FFL and leave wondering why they can't buy anything...
  8. I bought a couple 30 and 40 rounders last week, though I live in free America . No shortage here!
  9. Jesus Bob, leave some for the rest of us!
  10. All the big stores stores up here are out of the common stuff. I know it's getting tough - my ffl just asked if I could "loan" him a case or two. He can't keep it on the shelves snd can't get new shipments fast enough. I was hanging out in the store today and was amazed at how busy it was. Nuts...
  11. Added this Sig MAX to the collection. Was owned by a Sig employee and had trigger work done at the custom shop.
  12. I've seen plenty of flexplates crack, but usually at much higher mileages. That's where all the stress is concentrated when the transmission shifts and when the torque converter locks and unlocks. Plus, if the trans input is not exactly in line with the engine crank (tolerances there are in the .00x range) then it happens.
  13. If you want a 1911, try a 9mm version. It has a lighter mainspring.
  14. Received, and feedback left. "These are a great buy for the money. As good as or better than some of the more expensive bino's. The camera mount is a nice addition. Is there anything more I need to do for the refund? Thanks
  15. I got it in .45 acp. Haven't shot it yet. Dan Wesson Razorback
  16. I work in HR and Payroll. I can promise you there is no correlation between the economy and personal financial management. Poor personal finance skills cross all economic boundaries, from minimum wage earners to corporate big wigs. I've seen things that would make you cringe - corporate CFOs with multiple bankruptcies, employees with 13 - yes 13 - separate garnishment orders, people at all income levels taking 401k loans for revolving debts, employees using "bonus season" to spend 10x of their bonus amount on a car and then getting upset the following year because bonuses aren't as good. No matter how much you make, spending more than that is a recipe for personal disaster. A downturn in the economy is just a point where personal finance decisions really make or break you. An unexpected large expense or loss of income when you're living paycheck to paycheck is a financial breaking point for many folks. When that happens many people lash out, blaming everyone and anyone except themselves. All through the banking crisis, I never heard of a bank that forced someone to take that large mortgage, or to buy that $75,000 pickup truck or $100,000 BMW. There was plenty of fraud, yes, but usually by mortgage brokers getting questionable loans approved. There is no such thing as foreclosure or repossession if your payments are current. Yes, bad things happen to good people, but many good people also cause themselves major problems by constantly living in the moment. The issue IMO with student loan debt is the easy access to money with no linkage between the amount borrowed and the future potential to pay it back. What could possibly go wrong by giving an 18 year old a blank check and encouraging them to study whatever it is they "want to do" as opposed to what will support them in the lifestyle they want to live in - whatever that may be.
  17. OK, I can type freely now - she left the room
  18. Just picked up another 1911 - Love the look and grips, has an amazingly light and crisp trigger. Sign Max MIchael 1911. Has had a trigger job from Sig and came with 5 Wilson Combat mags. Series 80 parts all replaed with 70, the original parts are in the case. Paid much less than what the tag says. I love NH!
  19. I don't need Hallmark to tell me what day I should appreciate my wife, I adore her EVERY day. She gets flowers every other week - I refuse to buy them on Feb 14th because the price doubles for absolutely no reason other than Hallmark says so. Same with restaurants...
  20. Been married 32 years. We get each other a card and I got her flowers today. Other than that, it's friday.
  21. I think we met in NJ - he might have gotten a Snowblower from me when I was doing that. We're a couple hours apart now. I'm in Southern NH just over the border from Mass. Happy to show you around my local 2A haunts.
