  1. FYI - My wife stumbled across Bell canning jars at Stop & Shop grocery store. Only $5 for a dozen 32 ounce regular mouth. I think they generally go for 2 -3x that amount. So if you need some or are thinking about getting into canning, check your local Stop & Shop.
  2. Was checking out the global markets before calling it a night and saw this article. And then logged in here and saw this thread. For the gardeners out there, start thinking about canning. Wife just picked up some Bell canning jars at one of the local food stores (not sure which) for very inexpensive. They were unloading them. Tractor Suppy also carries canning supplies. If ranchers are unloading herds of cattle all around the same time due to the droughts as the origianl story states then that could very well flood the market with meat and hopefully start driving the prices down. If so, load up the freezer! https://www.cnn.com/2022/08/12/economy/rhine-water-levels-german-economy-intl-hnk/index.html
  3. When they started talking about the "plastic bag ban" my wife started saving ALL the plastic bags she brought home. We have bags of plastic bags. And she bought several hundred new ones from Amazon. And one store (Shoprite I think) gave her several (close to two dozen at least) of the reusable bags for "free" when she ordered online when this entire fiasco started. So the bags she's been saving for over a year, plus the bags she's ordered, plus the "free" reusable bags and a few of the produce boxes from Costso we leave in the back of her SUV....I would say we are set for "a while". I "may" have "borrowed" a plastic basket shortly after the entire nonsense started. If I did, it was certainly returned very quickly. Entire thing is stupid. We've always saved the plastic bags and reused them several times.
  4. What kind of large rifle primers do you have? I have1k Winchester #41 Small Rifle if that would be of interest to you. i could use some large rifle primers.
  5. Great little rifle. You'll be happy with it. And it's not an "evil, black, weapon of war". LOL. Idiots.
  6. Walmart down about 10% in after hours trading. Slashes 2nd quarter and full year outlook. More cracks in the levee. Couple this with the housing market cooling off, interest rates set to rise by at least another .75% later this week, more companies announcing layoffs and hiring freezes and it could be a bumpy week. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/walmart-warning-stock-price-recession-worries-205538127.html
  7. Deerslayer recommended E.Mueller Plumbing & HVAC out of Hillsborough. I got lucky. There was a team on their lunch break near by and they came over right afterwards. Capacitor went. They had me back up and running VERY quickly. I woudn't hesitate to use them again. I'll have to order some spare capacitors. Evidently during extreme heat over longer periods it's not uncommon for them to go. https://www.emuellernj.com/
  8. Thanks. He doesn't work down here but I did reach out to him to see if he has any recommendations.
  9. Upstairs zone went out. Happened a few years ago and luckily was just a resistor or fuse. Any recommnedations for an AC Repair place near Bridgewater area?
  10. An older Lincoln with a V8 I I bet? Town Car? Continental?
  11. These are strange times we live in. Traditionally it's been a much better use of money to purchase a reliable used car (3-5 years old) and let the first owner take the hit on the majority of the depreciation. And then keep that car well mantained and drive it for years and years and few more years. Most cars are not investments. They are a rapidy depreciating "asset". In the current environment we are in used cars are OUTRAGOUSLY priced. As is just about everything else. Those prices are not sustainable or realistic in the long run. If you buy a used car now you could very well be underwater or upside down on it once prices normalize. Unless you pay cash for it. Then you are just out that cash. In the crazy inflationary world we are living in your cash is worth less and less each and every day as inflation decreases your purchasing power. It could make more sense to lease now. And I am a VERY against leasing. But you need to look at how many drives you will be driving each year and make sure you don't go over what is allowed in your lease. if you have an older car that needs repairs, but it's a reliable car, then get it fixed. The prices I'm seeing for pre-owned vehicles are CRAZY. I really feel sorry for someone who has to buy a car right now. Think of leasing like is going to the gun range to rent guns and paying gun range prices for ammo versus buying your own firearms and buying ammo online or at Walmart (if you could do that). Leasing hardly EVER makes sense.
  12. What are they charging for qualifying? Please include that in your posts.
  13. Who's pulling in baskets of veggies?
  14. My question would be is what defines "actively report HG ammo sales to the state". Does that mean report ALL sales AT the point of purchase or does it mean "actively report HG ammo sales to the state" when requested. BIG difference. Regardless. it really doesn't leave the state knowing how much the purchaser actually has on hand at any one point in time. Maybe the purchaser shoots A LOT and the 5k rounds they purchased last month really doesn't mean much. And what business is it of the "State" (NJ or otherwise) to know how much HG ammo you've purchased. What's next? Tracking how many 6 or 12 or cases of beers you purchased? Or bottles of wine? Or whiskey / bourbon? Really, what interest does it serve? Because they aren't tracking how much is being used / consumed. It's really useless. And even if a person purchases "x" (call it 10k rounds of HG ammo) then really, what business it of the State knowing this? It's just more "feel good" legislation to make it appear they are "doing something". But in reality it means little to nothing. And it won't "solve" anything.
  15. If they aren't requiring it, why are you asking more questions? Submit your FPID and place your order. If that's what they require then just give THAT to them without stirring up a hornets nest that doesn't need to be stirred up.
  16. Doing a quick internet search I was only able to find the below. Since this is, or may be (not sure if it passed) , a NJ State law I don't see how they could require out of State ammo sellers to submit that information. If the online sellers you use don't ask about it then I wouldn't worry about it. Handgun Ammo Regulation This requires ammunition dealers to keep a record of who buys ammo and then provide that record to the state police. Congratulations, New Jersey. Black market types all over the state are looking forward to this new and exciting business opportunity as people go across state lines to buy up ammo, drive back, then sell the ammo to those who don’t want to show up on those records. Nicely done. https://bearingarms.com/tomknighton/2022/06/30/new-nj-gun-control-bills-head-to-murphy-for-signing-n59918
  17. Lol. I meant the other people who are complaining and providing example after example of new and innovative ways for NJ to screw us over. Thanks for the info on the qualifications.
  18. Seriously. People need to stop giving them ideas on how to screw us over. You KNOW the powers that be monitor this site and are takeing notes. I can see them now. Hunched over their computer. 'OH! I didn't even think of that one! Phil will love that idea!!" Where did you do your qualification at?
  19. I guess it depends where you do the qualifying. Gun For Hire shows: – No holster needed – All shooting from the ready position – 50 rounds per firearm – Timed fire using an FBI Q target – 24 rounds at 7 yards – 14 rounds at 10 yards – 6 rounds at 15 yards – 6 rounds at 25 yards For a total of 50 rounds. Must hit at least 40 rounds out of 50 (80%)
  20. So now that it's a reality, what are some recommendations for some good carry guns? I currently have a CZ P01. It's a little heavy (28.1 oz unloaded) put could be carried. Pros, it's a CZ. I shoot it pretty well. If round capacity restrictions are struck down I can easily buy standard 14 round mags for it. I also recently held a Glock 43X. It weighs 18.7 oz unloaded). It comes with 10 round mags but there are 15 round aftermarket ones available if things ever change. I've also recently discovered the CZ P-10 Micro-Compact. It's smaller and lighter (20.1 oz) than my PO1 but only holds 7 rounds. Being a CZ fan it caught my eye. So what are you carrying if you have been carrying. And what are some suggestions for a carry gun?
  21. I've heard of them. Never used them. I doubt they will "remove the burn" as that's the alcohol. Higher the proof/ percentage of alcohol the higher the burn. Life's to short to drink cheap whisky or bourbon. Not saying you have to buy hundred dollar or more bottles. There are PLENTY of bottles in the $25 - $60 range that are good to very good. Half the fun of drinking whiskey or bourbon is trying different ones and enjoying what makes each different and finding ones you enjoy. If you are just buying the cheapest and largest bottles than those things certainly can't hurt. I recently picked up Wild Turkey Rare Breed. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a higher proof (120ish I think) so it will have more of a burn. It may be replacing Jack Daniel's Single Barrel as my favorite. If you are newer to whiskey & bourbon drinking check out Old Forester 86. The 750ml bottle is around $25. It's good. Especially for $25! Russel Reserve 10 Year is also pretty good. My local go to store has had it on sale for $38. It too is very good for not too much money. I need to pick another bottle up soon.
  22. They use it to make the process more difficult. PERIOD. Years ago I actually had to go to a police department and be interrogated when I was a personal reference for a friend's pistol permit. It was completely absurd and WAY overboard. But they wouldn't sign off on his pistol permits unless I did so. Nothing to do with CYA on the issuing authority and EVERYTHING to do with making it more difficult for people to apply.
  23. Never thought I would have a reason to visit the Conceal Carry section. SO happy I now do!!
  24. And no need to have ANY answer for the "Justifiable Need" section. It has been officially dropped and all Police Chiefs should have been notified. https://www.anjrpc.org/page/NJDropsJustifiableNeed?fbclid=IwAR2ckKtGbnTW9u6Hujw51bgfl0R5ehu0MzgmlW6CnuvrY0JbFh-9ysWB78w&fs=e&s=cl
