  1. The Noveske was a 18" SPR barrel with intermedia has system. Not sure if they have different profiles. The LaRue is their standard 18" OBR barrel with rifle length gas system. I just got an OBR, it's not something I assembled. I would imagine their Stealth battles are just as accurate.
  2. Didn't know the background story. Thank you. I get it, but then a bunch of people in NJ and a bunch of gun store owners are about to go to prison?
  3. Not arguing with you, but doesn't the list say "Aftomat Kalashnikov Type" as well and there are AK patern rifles all over NJ gun shops.
  4. For barrels I would look at Rainier, Noveske and LaRue. My Noveske barreled SPR is sub MOA if I do my part as is my LaRue OBR. Rainier seems to sell barrels of the same or similar quality for a bit less money.
  5. I was always taught the same. 28 in a USGI 30rd mag. Fortunately or unfortunately, which ever, never had the use of 30rd magazines in NJ :-( When I took the rifle class with S&T, Joe was nice enough to lend my friend from NY and me some of his 30rd PMags. I loaded three stripper clips (30rd) in each and they we're perfectly on a closed bolt.
  6. Either way, a baba anything can't be a man anything. Unless this is a whole transgender brain washing thing lol
  7. How do these idiots (not you guys the film makers) go from "Baba Yaga" (baba = woman) to "BoogeyMAN" The gun play in both movies is awesome, the Russian is horrible. In 2017, there are enough Russian speaking people in the US, come on.
  8. Your best bet is to email Joe. He's a super nice dude and will answer your questions. I emailed him about Pistol 2 and Carbine 2 last summer. He mentioned that they were more advanced classes and I responded with a list of classes I have already taken. He came back and said that I was good to go. If I were you, I would do the same. He know what he teaches and would be the best judge wheather your current level or training is enough. I would like to take his Pistol 1 class with my wife. She has only one formal 8 hour class below her belt. I will more than likely sign up for his AK and Low Light class. Just have to free up the funds.
  9. I had a similar experience. When they first got their own range I emailed him asking if I could take the mkre advanced classes without taking the basic ones. The class descriptions on their website listed the lower lever classes as a prerequisite. I explained to him all the other classes I have taken which were plentiful and all I got in response was basically an "I don't give a fuck" I had to take the entry lever classes and work my way up. This seemed like nothing more than a money making scheme. No instructor in that building has the credentials to charge more per hour of training than a Vickers, Hackathrone, Heley, Holland, Costa et al, but they do, and people pay so whatever. I won't pay them a dime.
  10. $200/4hr is a rip off IMHO. A class by a top tier guy costs $525/14-16hr. I get that a top tier guy will also have more students per class, I get that some don't like that. Sights and Trigger has awesome classes for $150/7-8hours, his classes are small and he is a great instructor. Took classes wth Joe for the first time last summer and was blown away by the value. Going to take at least one class with him this summer and plan to bring the wife. I have no idea where G4H gets off charging what they charge but different strokes for different folks. My friend took their class and liked it.
  11. Sorry if my response sounded snide, not meant to be. I was serious, the only reason to get a plate carrier is to carry plates. A chest rig can do the same thing with less bulk and weight. I've carried (2) 30rd AR mags on my belt in a class without much trouble. I've carried (4) rifle and (4) pistol mags in a BCM chest rig with a hydration bladder on the back in a class as well. This is the way I see it; If you only need to carry a couple rifle and a couple pistol mags, doing so on a belt is the best solution. I am not a big fan of the drop leg carriers, I find them awkward but I suppose its an option as well. The next step up is a chest rig, they usually will accommodate (4) rifle and (4) pistol mags and could hold a hydration carrier on the back. Following that, the only reason to go to a plate carrier is to have armor.
  12. The most important thing my plate carrier carries are he front and rear Level 4 Stand Alone plates. The magazines are secondary. If I don't need armor I have a chest rig or a belt. If I need armor, the chest rig or belt mag carrier won't cut it. Do I need armor? Who knows. I train with it just in case I ever do.
  13. Honestly I could due without Metalica and just see A7X and Volbeat. Metalica will undoubtably drive the price of tickets up and I am still pissed at that little bitch over Napster. Their current album is being forced down everyone's throat but I kinda feel it sucks. Would be better if it was A7X, Volbeat and 5FDP
  14. That is the setup I have and love it. I run a medium Crye JPC and BulletProofMe Lvl4 standalone plates. I find the built-in pouches to be slightly too deep and too low profile. I also removed the retention bunji cords, I feel they only get in the way. In class I found it difficult to get my hand up high enough to pull a mag out for a speed reload. It wasn't impossible, but it slowed me down. I noticed my reloads were slower than using a BCM chest rig. Since then I have added a HSP cheat rig via swift clips. I can run the carrier slick and use the 3 onboard pouches, or I can clip on the HSP D3 and run 4 rifle and 4 pistol mags. I find the admin pouch totally useless for pistol mags, it's too high up. I prefer to run pistol mags on my belt in Tacos. As for shouldering the rifle the previous statement is spot on. At first it felt awkward and unstable, but you adapt quickly. I am waiting for the Crye Low Profile Belt. So far it's been a three month ordeal. Their online sizing chart is totally wrong and after waiting a month for one belt, I had to send it back and wait two months for a replacement. Oye. Once I get the replacement, I plan to run two pistol and two rifle mags on it along with the gun and IFAK.
  15. Took two classes with Joe last summer. Pistol 2 and Carbine 2. Great guy. I already signed up for the Costa rifle class. I plan on attending the S&T Pistol 1 with the wife, she hasn't taken a training class in years. The new AK class he put up sounds like fun. J haven't taken a training class with an AK yet. Think I'll be down for that as well.
  16. Would u be able to have a belt longer than 15 rounds? Lol
  17. The pinned stock law in Nj is retarded. I can pin the stock fully closed and it's still legal. So stupid. Anyway, I hope this bill passes, it won't change anything in NJ but when I love I won't have to wait months for a stamp.
  18. I've ordered a ton of stuff from PSA and never really had any issues. I jumped on their Black Friday deal for the VP9. It was a bit slow to ship but it went out, I wasn't worried because I didn't have any P2P anyway and was waiting on approval. When I finally went to pick up my pistol, turned out they had sent mine to some Asian guy in Ohio and his to me. Was kind of funny when my gun arrives with some Asian guys name on it. Oh well, either way, we both got our guns so no harm.
  19. http://soldiersystems.net/2015/11/27/the-l-3-communications-settlement-with-the-us-government-over-fraud-charges-stemming-from-eotech-holographic-weapon-sights/ I never liked EOTech sights, way before they were proven to be crap. Advised several friends not to get them, none listened. Oh well. If you want an RDS, go with Aimpoint. If you want an MRDS the RMR seems to be the ticket.
  20. You get what u pay for. I have 4 of em and love em. The Noveske one isn't bad, but I like the feel of the levers on the BadASS
  21. Silvercar. $40/day for first time users.
  22. Looks good. I did a bunch of grip work on my M&P but I fear tackling the Glock grip reduction. Good to know of a competent NJ shop. Looks awesome.
  23. That's the only thing I really wanted lol. I give them to my boss's sister, she is a history teacher and hands them out in class lol.
  24. So I just spent the last 20minutes proned out on my living room floor with my 7.62 OBR with MBT and my 5.56 Noveske SPR with SSA-E. Man it's hard to decide. I really like the flat face of the MBT, it helps build the grip and make sure your finger is perpendicular to the trigger travel. For some reason the first stage feels better on the MBT but I don't know if I can quantify it. It feels the same weight as the SSA-E but I feel like the wall before the second stage is more pronounced. I can work the first stage on the MBT a lot more accurately without dropping the hammer. What I mean is if I fingerbang the trigger and wiggle the first stage, I am less likely to drop the hammer on the MBT over the SSA-E. Once again, hard to explain why. When I take my time, the second stage feels almost identical. Both very very crisp. Reset feels the same on both but is louder on the MBT. Once again, this was just dry fire. Haven't actually shot the MBT yet. I let my wife do the same evaluation. She could not explain why but said the SSA-E felt better. So there you go. Totally inconclusive lol
