  1. I believe that, too. I'm just worried about NJ's belief that Federal laws don't apply here. I thought of that, but the car will be packed to the roof with stuff the movers won't take, and the range in the area I'm moving to could be several days drive away. Perhaps the safest approach would be to plan a pre-moving-day trip to EFGA, then stop at a post office once in PA. I'll load and shoot or sell most of the bullets while I'm in NJ, but there are a few hundred in a caliber that is very difficult to find, and I don't want to give those up.
  2. I'm planning a move out of state later this year, and I know our idiotic restrictions on hollow point ammunition don't include a carve-out for moving. BUT, every reference I've seen is to hollow point ammunition. I reload. Is there any restriction, real or imagined (by the state) on moving hollow point bullets? NJ hollow point ammunition restrictions
  3. That works, but I would have gone with today, 2-23.
  4. Maybe just restrict ammunition sales to her two sons, who have the armed robbery convictions. Most of the rest of us aren't the problem.

Rat shot? Those things are plenty big to load up with #2 shot and use on geese and turkeys.
  6. Let me attempt to fill in the gap: Happy Second Amendment Day! Roses are red Violets are blue Don't like my guns? Too bad, f*ck you! (Yes, I have the soul of a poet.)
  7. We just finished our first attempt at home roasting. It went pretty well. I found green beans at Greene Brothers in Hacketstown and we roasted our first batch on the stove a few days ago. It can also be done in the oven or on a grill, and I'm told some air popcorn poppers work fairly well, or you can pay big bucks for a home roaster. Roasting is a little smokey, but it didn't smoke out the kitchen nearly as bad as cooking smash burgers... The pan roasting is over in less than 10 minutes, followed by a quick cooldown and holding the roasted beans at room temp for 2-3 days before grinding. We brewed our first pot this morning, and I'm happy with it. A fun project, and cheaper than buying good roasted coffee.
  8. Now I'm getting all nostalgic. Six years ago a member on this board set up a group buy...I remember getting a bunch of 231 powder for $22/lb, all in. About the same time a vendor used to show up at some matches with CCI primers for $27/1000, all in. Good times.

I'll concede it's a very interesting gun, though one of the few 'interesting' guns I don't aspire to own someday. And yeah, I'd also like to see a video of it being shot at night.
  10. That is a good question. If the state is asking for more time to "research historical precedence", as @ESB noted above, then standard capacity would seem to be that precedence.
  11. I've carried my wallet in my right hip pocket since Jr High. I'm trying now to get used to it being in my left hip pocket, since right hip would put it too close to an IWB worn at 4 o'clock, if I'm asked for ID.
  12. I knew a guy who used to do that when I lived in Idaho. Light loads with a dried clay bullet, as I recall. It would fragment when fired, both to give a little dispersion and make it a bit easier to score hits on horseback, and also to eliminate the chance of an errant .45 LC slug getting away from the shooter.
  13. Yours was cut AND folded? Lucky! You got the deee-luxe version. I got a full sheet of paper right off the ink jet printer. The photo was glued on, but that was it.
  14. Thanks! I'll continue to bump it once a week or so, but we're all hoping the list never becomes so long as to be burdensome.
  15. When I took the class for the UT/FL permits, the instructor recommended loading/unloading with the muzzle pointed squarely at a doorjamb (on the side opposite the light switch). That puts several 2x4s downrange of the muzzle. NOT as good a solution as the unloading station or bucket of sand already suggested here, but it's something.
  16. But that shouldn’t be a blanket recommendation. Know your gun! If it works reliably with 10 + 1 loaded, then that’s the way to load it. Loading down by one is a crutch, covering for a mag or gun that isn’t quite working as intended. Load down if you must for reliability, but try to figure out and remedy the root cause of the problem.
  17. My thinking when I started the thread was that it would attract (not undeserved) bashing of businesses that post signs, calls for boycotts, and other political discussion. But you make a very good point about more eyes on the thread being useful. I've no objection if you want to move it to the more open side of the forum.
  18. I got out ahead of that boycott; I haven't been in an AC casino for many years.
  19. Bumping this thread. I'm encouraged by how very few businesses have been called out thus far as having 'no guns' policies, but at the same time I want to be sure any of which we're aware are added to the top post. So if you've seen a 'no guns' sign, let me know!
  20. I was asked to smoke something for a Super Bowl party I attended--who was I to say 'no'? I made three racks of baby back ribs on the WSM smoker, and three dozen ABT/jalepeno poppers. Oak chunks provided the smoke, and the ribs were on for about 4 1/2 hours, the poppers for a little under 2.5 hours, initially at 225F, raising to 270F in the last hour. I plated just a few of the ribs and poppers for the photo. The recipes used are a couple of favorites I keep coming back to. Jalapeño poppers Best Ribs in the Universe
  21. I have a S&W 915 I'd be willing to sell for $375, buyer pays transfer fees. It's in great shape, still in the factory box, with two 10-round magazines. Pics of a different 915 are here, I can send pics of the actual gun on request. https://www.d4guns.com/product/smith-wesson-model-915-9mm/ I've got five or six 15-round mags vacationing out-of-state, should the buyer be outside of NJ, or if NJ's ban on standard capacity mags gets overturned before the sale. The 915 shipped as a 15-round gun, and uses the same mags as the S&W 59 series, so they're still easy to find in 10 and 15 round capacity.
