  1. A beautiful rifle....congrats on being able to get her!!
  2. bad primer? or damp powder? 3.2 grains of 231 is not a squib load!! The only other thing I can think of is the powder was all up against the bullet base and none was down on the case head. The primer went off and the flame didn't reach powder until well towards the case mouth/bullet base. Other than that I'm stumped. Oh one more thing, are you sure you had a good solid roll crimp on the bullet inside the cannelure? If not gas would escape and you would loose a lot of pressure.
  3. Really great guy. Bought a magpul stock for my wifes 870. Absolutely perfect.
  4. I was at a local LEO range for my sons 4H and found a lot of live ammo on the ground, mostly 40 cal. What I noticed were primer strikes but no boom. On close inspection, it appeared that the case was almost roll crimped. In a straight wall case this would explain strikes with no boom as the cartridge headspaces on the case mouth. With a hard taper or almost roll crimp, the striker would push the round forward and cause it not to fire. So it may not be Glocks fault in this case. I'm not defending Glock, but without knowing the other components, it is hard to blame any one thing.
  5. Great handguard at a great price. ++++1
  6. It all depends on intended purpose and recoil tolerance and most importantly fit. For example, for home defense you would want something with a shorter barrel, say in the 18 to 20 inch range, in either 12 or 20 gauge. For sporting purposes, like clays, or hunting, you'd want to go with a 12 ga with a 28 inch barrel. If you are recoil sensitive, a good semi in 20 ga with a 26 inch barrel would be a good all around gun. My best advise is to go to a shop with a lot of different shotguns and feel every one. Mount it and see which fits you best.
  7. Great plan. Let us know what will be available.
  8. I would take 4 10" or 6 8" plates at those prices
  9. 308 is not very good for 1000 yards. It drops over 25 feet (with a 100 yard zero) using a 168 grain match bullet at standard muzzle velocity. Much better for long range would be the 300 win mag or 300 rum.
  10. As long as the bullet seating die is marked "taper" you will be able to crimp the bullet. Note, however, that the 40 and all straight wall cases, never use a roll crimp as they headspace on the case mouth. A slight taper crimp is needed and should be equal to, or .001 less than the diameter measurement where the base of the bullet sits in the case. In order to taper crimp, you need to insert the case into the shell holder and run it all the way up in the press. Next screw the die down until you feel it touch the case mouth, then back it up at least one full turn. Tighten the die in the press and then seat your bullet to the desired OAL. Now you can adjust for taper crimp. Back up the bullet seating stem at least 2 or more full turns, loosen the locking ring and back that up as well. Now with the case all the way up, slowly screw the entire die body down until you feel firm pressure. Lower the case and turn another 1/4 to 1/2 turn. Lock it down, reset your bullet seating stem and you are done. If you need clarification on any step, let me know.
  11. So let me get this straight, a Liberal says to a gun owner, "you support people who promote killing children". Aren't these the same liberals who just rejoiced about letting 15 year old girls take the morning after pill with no doctor or adult permission, and get it over the counter. Yeah that makes a lot of sense.
  12. Certainly adding the sources for each statistic adds credibility. I'll have to take a look at the sources once I get time, but all good talking points if they can be substantiated with the source documents.
  13. Highly recommend!! I bought a Rem 870 tactical and it was exactly as described.
  14. RIP Tom Knapp, may all of your clays be powder.
  15. y'all can get the Bone Collector Can cooker, it's a post ban item!! Signed Michael Waddell
  16. Just checked it out. It says if you order today it will be shipped by Sept 30th!!! For 70 bucks I would have ordered one and used it at various shoots during the summer, but if it won't arrive until winter time, I'm out!! haha
  17. I'm hoping to be mildly surprised, but I'm with malice95 and think this will not be a balanced report.
  18. I'm in Ringoes and hunt in Pittstown. I have been reloading for about 25 or more years. Would be glad to help a fellow reloader. PM me if you want to meet up.
  19. My 12 year old son took the NJ Hunter Ed test today. It consisted of the Field portion, Archery, rifle/muzzleloader and shotgun. This was followed by a 100 question test. Not only did he pass all the disciplines with flying colors in blustery VERY cold wind, but got a 99 on the written test!! A great example of what a lot of hard work and practice can accomplish. Signed a Very Proud Dad!! Oh and btw, even dad learned a few things!! Great course and great instructors. Keep up the good work NJ Fish and Game!!
  20. Great person to deal with. The mail was very slow to get to me with the package and mikeytapz13 was ready to reimburse me if it didn't show up. That means a lot to me. Anyone who is ready to back up a sale is +1000 in my book.
  21. Budweiser is no longer an American beer. The company is owned by a Belgium company called In-Bev. So if you are drinking AB products, you are drinking imported beer. For an executive of an alcoholic beverage manufacturer to criticize any gun or any gun owner is hypocritical. I assume he is blind to the fact that hundreds or thousands of people have drunk his products, gotten into a car, and caused an accident while driving impaired. I for one will not support AB or any In-Bev product.
  22. correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the gunpowder gone after an explosion!! Wouldn't it be better to "track" ball bearings and nails? Those stay intact. I know this is tongue in cheek, and I apologize to all who take offense, just trying to make a point.
  23. Checker50, of course I know you were kidding!!! Made me laugh yesterday so thanks!!
