  1. This is called a temporary transfer - http://law.onecle.com/new-jersey/2c-the-new-jersey-code-of-criminal-justice/58-3.1.html In a nut shell you can do a temporary transfer in the woods or fields or upon the water if the firearm is to be used for hunting and the correct permits have been obtained. You may also do a temporary transfer at a bunch of specified range types, i.e. a firing range operated by a licensed dealer, by a law enforcement agency, a legally recognized military organization or a rifle or pistol club which has filed a copy of its charter with the superintendent and annually submits to the superintendent a list of its members. Both parties must remain on the premises for the duration of the transfer and it may not exceed 8 hours in a 24 hour period. If it is a club operated range and they do not submit a list of their members to NJSP then you may not do a temporary transfer there. There are some other exemptions though. A certified instructor may do a temporary transfer of an unloaded firearm anywhere suitable for training purposes. This would cover me if you came to my house and I showed you one of my pistols, showing you how it worked and how to operate it. I can't find my copy of Nappen right now, but I believe there is also a wide exemption for a parent doing a temporary transfer to a son or daughter, but as I can't find it don't take that as gospel.
  2. The way they kept showing pictures of kids shooting makes it all the more thought provoking. I don't know what I'd do if one of my reloads took the fingers off one of my daughters.
  3. Except do not use a wooden dowel. The wood can split over the end of the bullet and then as you hammer on it, it wedges into the angle between the barrel and the nose of the bullet and makes the situation worse. Use some O-rings or electrical tape around the rod to keep it central in the bore. The unspent rounds will not ignite, just as they do not ignite under recoil. Sent from my SCH-I800 using Tapatalk 2
  4. How many rounds are you taking about? If it's not too many I would recommend taking them apart with a bullet puller and then firing the primers in your gun in a well ventilated area. Sent from my SCH-I800 using Tapatalk 2

  6. This is not as inexplicable as you might imagine. You say you fired over 100 rounds of 38spl first and then switched to .357mag. The 38spl is .10 inch shorter in the case than 38spl so there is fouling that builds up in the chamber just in front of the case mouth. When you subsequently fire a .357 the case is fire-formed to the chamber but is pressed into the fouling left by the 38spl. This will make extraction difficult. ad to this the higher pressure of the .357mag and the fire-form shaping really presses the 357 case into the crud left after the 38spl firings. As an experiment, run the .357mag first, before any 38spl, and I'll bet you find the extraction easier. Of course, you need to clean the chambers before you start this experiment.

  8. Where are you? I can let you have some 180gr Berry's and Xtreme if we can meet near Mountainside or Parsippany. Sent from my SCH-I800 using Tapatalk 2

    Which 45 to get?

Whether the slide is ready to accept the RMR is secondary in my opinion. Which one fits your hand better? Both are blocky, but the FNP 45 (yes I know it is not an FNX) I've handled was much squarer in the corners and felt even more like a length of 2x3 in my hand than a Glock does. If neither of these feel good, try an XD or XDm. Still a double stack 45 but the grip size is more in line with a G17/22 than a G21/41. Also pay attention to the grip angle and see what works for you. The lack of machining on the slide can be fixed with money. The size and shape of the grip, you're mostly stuck with. ETA: Just noticed you say you have a 21SF already. Maybe ignore my suggestion on the XD then.

  13. The consummate skill displayed by writing so many words without passing a single bit of information is worthy of praise. However, as your representative, he should be fired immediately.
  14. It all depends on what you want to do with it. For 0-200 yds build an AR and try you're best to stop grinning. Longer than that, build a bolt gun for the purpose,

Is the length of pull and drop the same on them all? What about magazine length and therefore balance? Sent from my SCH-I800 using Tapatalk 2
  16. I also think the process of going via the superior court will remain which will make the process take months to complete, especially when we all apply at the same time. Sent from my SCH-I800 using Tapatalk 2
  17. My expectation is that they'll just strike the justifiable need part and leave everything else intact, especially as the case does not challenge any of the other requirements. This means there will be no distinction between open or concealed same as today. We'll also need to reapply every two years, qualify every whatever it is, only carry ball ammo, etc. Whether the legislature tries to change the rules later will remain to be seen. I find it hard to imagine them insisting on open carry only but I also struggle to understand the rationale for many of the gun bills we see. Sent from my SCH-I800 using Tapatalk 2
  18. I agree if cert is granted it is a huge step forward, but it is not the end of the story. I believe there is a saying about chickens and counting that is appropriate. Nonetheless, if it goes badly for us, at least you'll have a nice single malt to drown your sorrows - but you'll probably have to wait until the 21st to know why you're drinking.

  22. I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your dog. I can't help you come up with a name. I think you have to meet the dog first to be able to pick the right one. However, a bit of advice - make sure it's not a name you'll be shy about yelling across the park.
  23. At 6000 rounds per minute you'd need to reload after 150 milliseconds
  24. The shocker is people like this are allowed to vote.
  25. As a basic principal you should not use the same charge for a heavier bullet. The added inertia will cause the pressure to go up, possibly to dangerous levels. As stated above, find published load data for the powder/bullet combo and work your load up from the minimum in the load data. Sent from my SCH-I800 using Tapatalk 2
