  1. i'm going.. i like some cuts from Hardwired, it some of the best they have done in 15 yrs musically. They have gotten a little to showy for my liking , but i realize this is not Roseland Ballroom circa 1982... good times, barely remembered.
  2. Originally, i thought this was to devise some protection from the left in regard to the pressure to repeal the Protection of Lawful Commerce Act. And maybe it does in some way protect their other business revenue from being subject to lawsuits and whatnot. I would think these other businesses would benefit from the S&W brand , but what do i know.. no big deal.
  3. And say hello to " American Outdoor Brands Corporation" SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Dec. 13, 2016 SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Dec. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Smith & Wesson Holding Corporation (NASDAQ Global Select: SWHC), today announced that its stockholders have overwhelmingly approved a change to the holding company's name from Smith & Wesson Holding Corporation to American Outdoor Brands Corporation. The name change does not impact Smith & Wesson Corp., the name of the company's firearms division, which has legendary roots dating back to 1852 and will remain unchanged. The name change pertains only to the holding corporation that acquired Smith & Wesson in 2001 and now owns Smith & Wesson Corp., Battenfeld Technologies, Inc., and Crimson Trace Corporation, which represent the company's firearms, manufacturing services, accessories, and electro-optics divisions. James Debney, President and Chief Executive Officer of Smith & Wesson, said, "We are excited about the results of today's stockholder vote. We believe that American Outdoor Brands Corporation is a name that truly represents our broad and growing array of brands and businesses in the shooting, hunting, and rugged outdoor enthusiast markets. Looking ahead, and operating as American Outdoor Brands Corporation, we intend to continue building upon our portfolio, focusing on brands and products that best meet the needs and lifestyle of our target consumers." The name change will be effective on or about January 1, 2017, at which time the company will adopt the common stock trading symbol "AOBC" for its NASDAQ stock exchange listing. AOBC will look funny on the side of a Revo .. bleh
  4. OBRPC is having a Knockdown Steel Match on Oct 30th .. Shotgun only! edit for shameless plug: there is a nice Shotgun package offered here in the WTS section, if you buy this package and plan to shoot this match with it , i'll throw in 50 rounds of ammo! http://www.njgunforums.com/forum/index.php/topic/83535-wts-mossberg-500-package-asking-475/
  5. what do you mean .... why? also wonder what brand of ammo used in these instances , S&W is very specific on what "NOT" to use in the 15-22 i.e. "Thundercrud"
  6. the whole permit process creates anxiety .. i.e. the Velvet Rope mentality , throw a velvet rope and a bouncer in front of a dive bar and all of a sudden the line is around the corner , creating an air of privilege. when you should be able to just walk in and order a damn drink.
  7. Unfortunately , i think Bass Pro is in the process of buying Cabela's now ... am i correct in assuming we won't be ordering any more ammo from Cabela's in the near future due to Bass Pro's shitty NJ ammo policy?
  8. sure i fish in the winter months , but i opted for a semi-dry separate top and bottom and so i can peel off either if i get too warm (paddling warms you up rather quickly) and also a much cheaper option as a legit dry suit can run over $1k. I use NRS stuff as it fits the purpose and is reasonable in price. Jeepster says "dry socks" and i second that ..use them in summer as well in shallow water. get plenty of bungie cords and leashes and secure everything, ask me how i know, there is a small men's accessory dept at the bottom of my local lake. http://www.nrs.com/product/25813/nrs-mens-powerhouse-jacket http://www.nrs.com/product/20015.03/nrs-mens-endurance-splash-pants http://www.austinkayak.com/products/206/Bungee-Paddle-Leash.html
  9. Old Town is a great choice , comes with a very comfortable seat. I prefer sit on top kayak for fishing. I have a Jackson Cuda that i use just about every weekend to fish for LMB. Also used it last month in Barnegat Bay , no issues. some links: http://jacksonkayak.com/jk-kayaks/?d=fishing-hunting http://www.kayak-anglers.com/forum/
  10. yep..same boat here ..and boy the degeneration has picked up steam over last few years. i feel the pain here , and after reading this thread i was poking around the interweb and found these .. stick-on , ply-able and can be cut with scissors to customize and stick on with water and easy to peal off..so says the interweb... i just ordered some in +1.50 dioptic .. $15 bucks to try it, figure what the hell. Of course i just bought proper progressive lenses that are useless for shooting for me.. like the OP, can't lean my head back far enough to use most powerful part of lens... here is the link to a description, but they are available on Amazon and Prime is available if you use it... http://www.amazon.com/OPTX-20-Stick--Bifocals-1-50/dp/B000W7CMW0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1445026319&sr=8-1&keywords=stick+on+bifocals+1.5 i'll report back
  11. That probably should have been my play especially using irons, and Dave even said it at the beginning " Don't fall in love with a target".... i didn't listen
  12. ha! ..i had been so busy trying to remember target sequence and somewhat of a stage plan,i forget to pace myself. It's a balance i have to figure out. The longer stages give me trouble, on bay 7 i spent way too much time on far rifle targets and timed out and i really wanted a shot at those flying clays, I'll be in better shape for the next 3gun , and maybe pick up a semi auto SG while i'm at it. Great time , can't wait for the next one.
  13. My first 3 gun match yesterday, finished at the bottom of my division and that's cool with me. i had a great time shooting with good people. it was a little more intense than i predicted, i don't think your supposed to hold your breath while running an entire stage. i just wanted to say thanks to those who put this match on ..i don't think they have an emoji for gratitude.
  14. i think he is referring to FED raising interest rates at the next meeting (which is a joke IMHO), but i'm not sure which would have a more negative affect.
  15. Although not relevant really to us residing in New Jerky, and i don't shop in Walmart for anything anyway. it may be of interest to some . their claim is that it is not politically motivated(lie) , and that it is a strict business choice ( yea right , cause AR's don't sell) http://bearingarms.com/walmart-stops-selling-msrs-semi-automatic-shotguns/ at the bottom of article it claims that some online buyers are getting AR's at steeply discounted prices... but im a show me, or it didn't happen type
  16. i see carbine match divisions as well , the good doctor AdamM can fix this i think
  17. great gun made better by the Majestic Arms Speed Strip kit IMHO , well worth it for me http://www.majesticarms.com/ allen key takes out pin / bolt slides out i think some forum vendors on here carry it , i had Dino at Majestic install my MK speed kit along with new hammer which dropped the trigger pull to about 3lb. I'm not a tinkerer , so having Dino do it made sense for me. FYI: he is in S.I.,NYC so leave your upper in NJ. other threads on this if your interested : http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php/topic/20847-speed-strip-kit-for-ruger-rimfire-pistols/?hl=majestic http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php/topic/65879-ruger-mark-ii-and-mark-iii-takedown-etc/?hl=majestic
  18. Shimano, Penn, Diawa, Quantum ...all decent and functional in my experience , but if your looking to make an impression(in-law) and command instant respect ..get him a Van Staal.
  19. though it seems you like steel guns, the HK VP9 comes with 15rd mags and can take P30 mags as well...just sayin'

  22. Minutes from USPSA board meeting last week... Carry Optics to be tested for balance of 2015 for potential inclusion for 2016. .level 1 only Can someone define Carry Optics for a newb please ... is it a dot ?... posted on FB by Steve Thomas: Bruce Gary wrote this concerning the minutes and "Carry Optics". Please read. Steve Hi, all As posted previously, the minutes are out from the in-person USPSA Board meeting held last weekend in Louisville, KY. Probably the most notable item is that we decided to give "Carry Optics" a formal try. In essence, as soon as the systems are modified to score and process the activity, we'll give the green-light to run "Carry Optics" as a provisional division, within a bunch of guard-rails: -- level-1 matches only -- guns must be under a specified weight, all-up, including optic and empty mag -- other than that, all other production-division equipment rules apply We're doing this as an experiment, to see whether there really is interest from membership and industry in this new segment. We'll run it this way through the end of the year, evaluate the data, and then decide whether to keep going, change it, expand it into bigger matches, or...something else. Please do let us know what works and what doesn't as this unfolds. We purposely made the initial set of provisional equipment rules *very* restrictive, with the idea that it is always easier to relax rules than it is to tighten them up once the games have begun. PLEASE NOTE: current production-division rules do NOT allow for the milling of a slide to accomodate a big cut-out for an optic mount. That means if you mill a big chunk out of your slide to play in Carry Optics, your gun may no longer be legal in Production. I am not personally sure whether this can be resolved with an "interpretation" from NROI, or whether it requires a formal change to the Production division rules, just... be forewarned, and don't make any big changes to your beloved Production gun until/unless the ramifications are clear. Lots of other stuff going on, let me know if you want info on anything in particular. Bruce Gary pdf of the minutes: http://www.uspsa.org/bodminutes/20150718.pdf
