  1. Had a little incident the other day. Ordered up some ammo from Freedom Munitions who shipped it UPS. Checked the status and said it was delivered while I was at home. Checked the front, side, and back yards and found nothing. Called UPS who said they would look into it and call back within an hour. Received a call from them two hours later claiming that the driver delivered it and me stressing "heavily" that it wasn't there and they said driver would retrace route the next day. Called Freedom Munitions and told them the situation and they would file a claim with UPS to get an investigation started. Within minutes of me hanging up with them my neighbor from down the street drops off my ammo. Called back UPS to register a complaint against the driver for dropping it off at the wrong house (for whatever good that does ) and also called Freedom to give them the update. Now comes my question. If my ammo had not been found and was still missing, what would be my obligations under the current law. Would there be any requirement to report this to the police or would I just file the complaints with the shipper/shipping company in question? If there is a reporting requirement, is the onus on me to report it or the shipping company to do so? The ammo in question was a mix of 9mm, 38spl, and 357 Mag. All of which were FMJ and none of them were HP's, if that makes any difference.
  2. Oh she did excellent work and I have no complaints. I just thought I'd chime in about my experiences, that's all. I already had my references ready before I even showed up there for the application. I do have some friends on Staten Island who belong to the shooting clubs out there that I was considering using as backups. Since we're on the reference subject I was also told none of the references could be law enforcement (I can't remember if it was no municipal or no "anyone") is that in the statute at all?
  3. I figured I'd chime in on this since it's contrary to what I've been reading on this thread so far. I was actually told by the clerk in Woodbridge that my references had to be in NJ. Wasn't a problem as I had my local references lined up for the process already (matter of fact one of them pointed out his town wanted in state references too). Now I'm curious how it would have gone if I had been someone who just moved there from out of state. Personally though I don't get the whole thing. No one with half a brain is going to list someone that hates/fears them, but then again I've heard the stories about people with less than half
  4. Hello from Hopelawn. Good luck with getting the FPID and permits. As to stores and ranges I think everyone so far has covered them well. I did come across a faily new store in Perth Amboy recently, I believe it's called Elite Firearms and Tactical. Very small place with a small selection, prices are about equal to Bullseye and the Guild, but it's in a 3.5% sales tax town and the guy there gave a little deal on my small cash purchase, so there maybe some potential there.
  5. Nice rifle. I'm curious though was that silver boy made in Bayonne or the Wisconsin plant that they have?
  6. I was told by an acquaintance, who's a retired campus officer that he doesn't qualify, even under the federal act that lets retired LEO's carry, because a University police department is not considered to be it's own jurisdiction the way a city, county, or state police department are. Apparently this also applies to the Transit police and park police too, but for some reason not the Port Authority Police, something about them being a bi-state agency.
  7. I recognize the layout Greenwood Lake in the first shot, but don't recognize the one from the approach shot. Mind if I ask which one that was (I'm assuming it's still Greenwood Lake, I just don't remember those buildings there on the approach for some reason)? What ever one it is they did a good job clearing the snow. I was told by one the people at Linden don't come out until Tuesday and they have their own equipment to remove the snow on top of that
  8. Beautiful dogs. All you need now is a sled to hook them up to and you'll be ready for the big snow storm on Friday/Saturday
  9. Quick question to all of our legal eagles on this site. I read that he surrendered his FPID card voluntarily. Is he required by law to surrender if he's asked and only asked? I was always taught that with any license or certification you never ever surrender it voluntarily because it is near impossible to get back once you do.
  10. Just picked up a Steel Boy in 357. It was made at their Rice Lake, WI factory. I found out, when I called Henry for info on something else, that all of their blued steel receiver rifles are now made at that facility. The subject of factory tours came up and according to them, they don't off them. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news on that one.
  11. I've actually been driving a 2006 Toyota Corolla since new. Put about 133,000 miles on it with no major problems until I opened my mailbox today and found I'm on the recall list for the passenger seat air bags that turn into shotgun shells when deployed. Their recommendation is to keep people out of the front seat until they get parts in, whenever that will be . So you may want to keep that in mind when you're looking for your beater. I think Honda's had the same company do their air bags too if remember right.
  12. Anyone if the one they're building in Sayreville will have an indoor range? I tried looking at the Bass Pro Shop web site and it didn't tell me much.

    Ma new Gat

Hold on that ball cap isn't regulation. It needs to be either sideways, brim folded up, or brim straight with the New Era sticker still on it
  14. I never did think of that. I just ordered up the full frame and had the mags reduced to 15 (once again thank you Steve of Monmouth Arms for setting that all up for me). Put the first 150 rounds through it today and have no regrets about the purchase. Definitely a great shooting pistol. I can see how the some of the previous posters had problems as my hands are big and my thumbs end up on the slide lock and take down lever. I haven't had the problem above yet, but I'll keep my eye on it and try to position accordingly.
  15. I do remember seeing the video clips that were from about 1940/41 when they came out with the prototype. My favorite intriguing ones are the Japanese copies that were made near the end of the war. I'm sure we could talk for hours about all the one off or too little/too late designs those Germans came out with, but we'd probably run out of bandwidth. I don't think any one even thought to develop a lot of the materials we use today. Doing a lot of stuff on a jet is easier and quicker than any recip engined aircraft, they last a hell of a lot longer, so that's believable an engine change was less time.
  16. Yes, but it had it's weaknesses. Mainly those extremely unreliable Junkers Jumo engines that had to be changed after one or two flights. Between the materials used and the quality control at the factory (think slave labor) were a big reason so many of them sat on the ground when they were needed in the air. I was reading in Air Classics a few months ago that someone had an original airframe and that they were building exact copies of the Jumos using modern materials. It should be interesting to see how they work out. Thanks for the videos, it looks like the replicas turned out great working airplanes
  17. From what I understand they're not available yet and no one I've talked to can seem to agree on a time line as to when they'll be available. Best thing you can do is find shop or dealer that can pin the magazines to 15, like the one I'm ordering up.
  18. Actually went there yesterday to christen my brand new Mark III and 10/22. I originally intended to go to Shore Shot, but decided to swing by and check. Imagine my surprise when they told me it was their first day of business.
  19. I'm a loner and a loner's gotta be alone But in all seriousness, being the FNG, I wasn't aware suicide was such a big problem at the ranges.
  20. I have to ask a question about your admittance policy. I understand from your website you require someone coming in by themselves to rent and shoot, to have an FPID. I wanted to ask what the reasoning behind that policy was, especially since other ranges only require a drivers license. I'm currently in the application process for an FPID and while I'm waiting I'm trying out different guns to see what I like. Also I work afternoons/evenings and weekends so it's tough getting someone else going along with me.
  21. Well it is similar to the infamous Chewbacca defense http://southpark.cc.com/clips/103454/the-chewbacca-defense
  22. Mind if I ask what the rules are regarding ammunition? Is it even allowed to be checked on a flight?
  23. Thanks for the info everyone. I turned in my application yesterday and I put down for the three permits. Next up on this list is the fingerprinting.
  24. Thanks everyone, especially you Bob. The attachment was helpful.
