  1. And we all still all have our firearms.... Glass half full people....glass half full..... As per another thread ...there are many many many... carbines...*still* in NJ....
  2. Ambi saftey on backorder...smh. Ring hammer hasn't arrived....smh. Refacing tools have not arrived... Trigger work, polish ramp, polish chamber, install night sights...all new springs.... Left the slide stop the way i got it for a bit of nostalgia with how it aged...as well as hammer. A nice fighting pistol ....
  3. Folks hate duracoat..... i find it very easy to work with and it does last.... as with any finish if you beat the crap put of it it will fail... Yes simple 1960' airbrush setup i got from my father in law years ago..works perfectly.... I have found that lighter outflow, while taking longer to cover affords nice thin coats as you proceed...with no running. I did a friends beat to snot colt police positive...looks great today.
  4. Thank you !.... Scotch brite pad and elbow grease... took the black paint off ...kinda easy. Then a very fine flat knife sharpening file to take out surface scratches.... and needle files to do the dehorn etc. Once that's done i go back with a very fine pad and rub it down... then a cloth with fine grit polishing compound. Then i hit it all with brake cleaner...then bake it to get any residual oils out... brake cleaner again...then a final dose of the true strip spray... Then it is all new dry gloves and mask and hang it.. the finish portion is the fastest and easiest..the prep is the hard part. Thanks for asking...!
  5. Israeli surplus HP. Great mechanics and bore, finish not so much Detail strip .... assess parts.... Remove black paint...clean up dings and dehorn. Remove sharp edges at magwell, slight bevel. Polish out balance of parts, degrease and refinish. Add a touch more hardener for some sheen, dry and then bake. Waiting on - ambi safety, night sights, muzzle reface, polish chamber and ramp, new springs, ring hammer and of course lanyard ring...
  6. They can write all the in home laws they want.... They cannot enforce them... That being said, it should be fought tooth and nail.
  7. ^^^ this. I never understood long notice. I have seen folks lets go..on a monday morning..just after commuting in... no notice...your done. Yet same folks complain so and so left, with a weeks notice.... :/
  8. If you pushed it in with your fingers, it is not fitted properly
  9. Take a small punch.... find edge of dovetail...move some metal into the sight base. Done The thing is the sight base must be fit properly to the dovetail...without that nothing works right
  10. Let alone the true environmental destruction to create the batteries and dispose of etc. Hydrogen fuel cells...why isn't that more prevalent?
  11. No amount of glue is a substitute for proper mechanical fit of two metal parts.... Just relying on 'glue' to fill gaps etc...to do so is rube goldberg.... If the dovetail slot is smaller than the sight base you file the sight base for mechanical fitment.. If the dovetail slot is too big, you get a bigger sight base and file to fit. Once the firearm is zeroed, you stake the dovetail slot on one or both sides. Ymmv
  12. Buy a mossberg 590 Stake it...
  13. What @10X said.... Make sure it is unloaded..........and no ammo is anywhere near the cleaning bench. If you cannot clean your own firearm and not know how it operates, you should not own one...
  14. The grass always looks greener - and you are making a very brash decision based on once in a lifetime, most likely occurrence... I would say stay in your field and seek greener pastures and/or as we come out of this open your own place........
  15. HP...new crown...

  18. Because there is always one more Smith to collect.......or HP, or 1911 etc. Actually, IMO you should be shooting your handguns more than rifles, odds are you will need that more that the long gun... Personally, I find very little to no joy in shooting AR/AK type - very bleh, but that is for me. Ironically, for the folks shooting steel at 100yds with the AR to hear the twang, shoot would be easier for them to get a plate and a hammer than wasting all that ammo...
  19. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This. I just applied for three more permits and have three more handguns lined up.
