tinyboy 1 Posted July 26, 2009 That many? that's not bad at all I thought it was 5 total. isn't that what most semi auto shotguns are anyway or do some have a bigger capacity?
PK90 3,573 Posted July 26, 2009 Example of 6 + 1 with 18" barrel Example of 8 + 1 with 22" barrel
tinyboy 1 Posted July 26, 2009 What brands are those? the semi auto also has feature restrictions, correct? Pistol grip, foldable stocks, etc. that stuff is only allowed on pumps I thought

New09 0 Posted August 5, 2009 Get yourself a Saiga 12 w/some 5 round mags & enjoy!
coldsolderjoint 84 Posted August 5, 2009 Well, there is the grey area, of the magazine of a Saiga being detachable. Under this line, the gun fails at being an assault weapon, and is legal with any capacity mag (up to 15 rounds): iii. A semi-automatic shotgun that has at least two of the following:(1) A folding or telescoping stock; (2) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon; (3) A fixed magazine capacity in excess of six rounds; and/or (4) An ability to accept a detachable magazine; But then, under this line, it's questionable, because it's clear the intent was on fixed magazines: 3. A semi-automatic shotgun with either a magazine capacity exceeding six rounds, a folding stockor a pistol grip; Of Course, federal 922R laws would apply. hotshot 4 Posted August 5, 2009 i would skip all that for a young kid starting off....i would say pick up a single shot (many choices) easier to handle and less complicated for beginners.....teach them well

S12's are great fun, mine is my primary skeet/trap gun. its great fun watching people stare as you load a big-looking magazine into your AK-type on the skeet fields. Over 16 I would go with a pump to begin.
DirtyDigz 1,812 Posted August 28, 2009 One thing I always wondered about in regards to the semi-auto shotgun limit: A magazine tube that can hold six 3" long shot shells is at least 18" long. If instead of using 3" long shells, you used 2.5" long shells, you'd be able to fit seven of them (18"/2.5" = 7.2). I see nowhere that NJ law distinguishes what a "standard" shotgun shell length is. tinyboy 1 Posted August 28, 2009 Tinyboy, the Benelli M1 I was using at the class last weekend holds 6 in the tube. My M2 holds 5 and 1 only but its good enough i cna still do some damage to the paper with 6 quick shots lol can't hit a clay pigeon to save myself though...
