Recommended Posts

I have a current production SA M1 I am thinking of selling. The rifle is not for sale on the board. I need help deciding what the value of the rifle is please post your suggestions. I bought it new from SA 7-8 years ago and have shot less than a 1,000 rounds through it.

You are comparing apples and oranges. It the rifle in question is a commercial copy produced by Springfield Armory INC., it is not the same rifle as the military productions and the value is totally different. Unfortunately the CMP has made many available at decent prices with a few hundred thousand more on the way in the near future.

While they may look identical, the big difference is that the commercial copy used a cast receiver produced overseas, possibly Brazil. It will function just fine but the values cannot be compared to the original rifles .

I stated it is a new model.

But most don't as shown by the comparision to the IH & the Springfield.

The last one listed is a commercial copy of the Garand as it has the CAI (Century Arms) receiver using surplus parts. Opinions vary on that receiver but I don't believe Springfield used them in their builds. I think it is one WAY overpriced.

here is a new one, so i would take a couple hundred off for being used as long as it is in good shape..

My CMP Special was $995 + shipping, for an essentially rebuilt rifle, new wood & barrel, reparked parts. I have no idea if the quality of the SA Inc. M1s the same as the GI, or they shoot the same or better, but there are lots of CMP rifles for re-sale, and there is an abundance available from the CMP now. If brandy-new SA Incs are going for $1275-ish, maybe you can move it for a grand? There are a lot of people who dont meet or won't go to the trouble of doing the CMP paperwork, so there is definetly a market. Hope you can sell it for a decent price--
