lunker 274 Posted March 3, 2010 The ammo is up on the website. It's Greek HXP surplus. Just what your M1Garand is looking for. It's $96 for 192 round cans. https://estore.odcmp.com/store/catalog/ ... st&cat=AMC
The_Matrix 105 Posted March 3, 2010 Price went up a little bit, but still worth it.

lunker 274 Posted March 3, 2010 Price has gone way up... True. But compare their price against 30-06 anywhere else.
DevsAdvocate 112 Posted March 3, 2010 I noticed a lot of Garand owners looking at this stuff... what's so special about this surplus ammo when compared to new production stuff?
lunker 274 Posted March 3, 2010 I noticed a lot of Garand owners looking at this stuff... what's so special about this surplus ammo when compared to new production stuff? This ammo has the correct pressure curve. Modern ammo has too steep a pressure curve. It can bend the operating rod eventually.
HODGIE 3 Posted March 3, 2010 I noticed a lot of Garand owners looking at this stuff... what's so special about this surplus ammo when compared to new production stuff? You should not shoot commercial 30-06 out of a Garand, the next best option to the Greek is to hand load with the correct recommended pressures. DevsAdvocate 112 Posted March 3, 2010 Why can't they load commercial loads with the proper pressure curve? I only ask because surplus ammo will not last forever, and I don't plan on getting into reloading soon.

Caine 147 Posted March 3, 2010 Out of curiosity, the bolt guns aren't affected by the pressure of commercial .30-06, correct? Thinking of the 1903s and 1917s specifically.
matty 810 Posted March 3, 2010 no the 1903s & 1917s can shoot commercial .30-06 AFAIK. If one buys the adjustable gas plug, can use the commercial stuff in an M1. I bought one but have not used it yet. Eventually the surplus M2 ball will dry up. I bet the Greeks wanted more money this time, and they probably need it based on what I hear on the news--

chefhunter34 1 Posted March 5, 2010 Question... How does this ammo compare to domestic ammo? Does it shoot as wll in your rifles? I have a Remington 700 30-06, and I am kind of partial to loc core 150gr just curious
