Does anyone have load data for 225 lead 41 mag load with W 296 powder. Thanks Tom

I do not load 41 Mag, but I do load with Win 296 and it likes full charges. The kind of charge that will melt the lead all over the inside of your barrel unless you are gas checking them. What kind of loads are you looking to shoot? Light target loads or Heavy thumping loads?

I have used 296 with GDHP's and Berrys plated bullets with good results. I was looking to make another plinking round. I was using 17.7 gr with the Berrys and I was thinking of starting there and seing what happened.

296 is a good powder but is best suited for jacketed bullets at full power loads. if you want plinking for lead bullets look at IMR Trail Boss.

 

You will lead up your barrel very quickly if you use 296 and lead bullets.

Also Berry's recommends loading their plated bullets to lead bullet velocity. The playing is very thin on Berry bullets.
