1911 Colt plunger tube came off

Recommended Posts

need advise...

a) do I just send it back to Colt for a repair under warranty (cost of Fedex one-way is $30) but with 3-4 week turn around time?

b) Am I better off bringing it to a local gunsmith for the fix? Louis at Armament estimates a $30 cost and a 1 day turn around.

or

c) buy a plunger tube staking tool from midway at $35 and some loctite red and do the repair myself?

your comments are appreciated.
