This was a rare WW1 era mod done to the 98 series rifle. The springfield 03 had a 25round mag like this for airplane use.The k98 mags are extremely rare to find as originals because they were field mods. Instead you find fantasy items like the one in the auction. I have seen guys try to use these for WW2 reenacting and they get be laughed at. You would think the Germans would have used up the large surplus Mg13 mags this way. It would have helped even up the fight against the garands and m1 carbine.

PS im not trying to say that its a mauser k98 for sure. just wanna show that there were a lot of k98 versions produced by different countries.

and those are most probably partisans, so it is plausible for them to have german weapons.

the model 88 german military rifle is based on mannlicher system , not a mauser variant -
