kimber team 2 / wilson comat mag problem. ramped barrell

Recommended Posts

Cleaned the kimber team 2 tonight from friday nights range session, the bottom of the ramped barrel was marred after inspection i found the wilson combat mag rests above the frame when the barrel comes back into battery it contacts the mag leaving it damaged.

Took pics of damage and mags in frame to show the problem, i may just modify the mags or buy kimbers and be done with it.

Repaired barrell, filed with a jeweled file and polished with roush..

Good thing you caught the problem early. 9mm single stack mags are tricky as different brands perform differently with different pistols. Now that you know what needs to be done with the Wilson mags, you can just tune them specifically for your Kimber. The Wilson gives you one extra round over the OEM Kimber mag... good for competition ; )

Kimber putting it in the manual would be like Glock admitting their guns have potential to KB =P

Tony, I would call them up. Did the gun ship with wilsons? The smith's do and never had that issue. did you try other wilson mags and it is all of them or perhaps just the one mag?

I went ahead and fit these mags to my gun.

after checking all of my other 1911 mags and none of them have the same issue as the wilson combat mag.

the correct way to fix this problem was to modify the mag not the gun.

even though it was a ramped barrell their is still ramping in the fram the wilson mag petruded way above the ramp.

I removed material from the front of the magazine body to correct the problem with kimber team 2 1911 and use of this magazine.
