this_is_nascar 162 Posted October 14, 2011 OK, I have the stupid question for the day. For these guns that have windage-only adjustments, how is one supposed to deal with that for shooting accurately? Do the maker really expect you to "hold it 2" high" or something if it's not hitting right?
hd2000fxdl 422 Posted October 14, 2011 Example of what gun and what distance you are talking about. Remember you have a few ideas on elevation and sight alignment, some will have the front sight aligned right on, some will be at the 6 o-clock position. Now if it is neither of these and you really need to make an elevation change you could always use a taller or shorter front sight. Just a few first thoughts before the more knowledgeable folks chime in. Harry
Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted October 14, 2011 Depends on the gun. Sig, for example, uses dovetailed sights and makes a variety of both front and rear sights. Dawson Precision makes sights for a variety of guns... http://www.dawsonprecision.com/ scroll down the menu on the L/S. If you are talking about a gun like a Colt SAA, then it's time to get out the file and the barrel blocks. Where there's a will, there's a way - some are just easier than others. MedicYeti 96 Posted October 14, 2011 I have a revolver that was shooting high, front sight not adjustable or removable, so I charged the dremmel and took it to the range one day. Just a little off at a time.

Old School 611 Posted October 15, 2011 Need to be more specific. Handgun? Long gun? Make and model?
this_is_nascar 162 Posted October 16, 2011 It's a handgun, 1911'ish, with a 3-white dot sight. Current windage adjustment is just about there, but it shoots really low. I can't think of any options other that to swap out the sights or deal with it.
robot_hell 72 Posted October 16, 2011 At what distance? What's your sight picture like? Are you covering the target with the center dot or does the target sit on top of the three dots?

However as asked, make model of the gun and what's your sight picture look like?? Harry
