steel plate supplier

Recommended Posts

Just bought 2 steel plates 1" thick, 12" x 12" at Arnold Steel in Howell. Mild steel but OK to shoot w/30.06. Did not puncture. $44 each but they have a $50 minimum order. I welded eyes on top and painted them primer & blaze orange. They were ready the same day I called. I am too chap to buy good steel online. These will last a long time.

Please keep us up to date on how it lasts getting hit with .30-06. I'm curious how mild steel will survive.

I shoot mild steel all the time since I just grab it from the dumpster at work... Doesn't last. Steel core goes through 3/8 plate at 100 yards easy. The craters from lighter rounds create unsafe ricochet potentials. Especially if you have to pay for the one inch plate it's not worth it. Heavy, too

I ordered some targets for GT Targets. I am happy with them and the price was reasonable. Here is their contact info:

IMO the best bang for the buck are bunker hill self resetting targets. 3/8 ar 500, $86 shipped (if you order two, they discount as they fit in the same flat rate box as one does)

Looks pretty cool for the price, do you think it would stay put in the ground with a 12" spike into the ground, or prob. need to bolt it down.

I ordered from http://www.bigdogsteel.com for a bunch of targets and i've been pretty happy with them thus far.

I was shooting mine with 10" spikes without any issue other than it being low to the ground.
