Steel Match at CJPRC on Sunday 6/3

Recommended Posts

On the calander for CJPRC this sunday they list a steel match. Does anyone know if this is going to happen since it seems there is going to be the steel match at OB. My other questions are what kind of guns do they shoot at the CJ steel match is it .22 or is it centerfire. Also how many mags should i need if it is 22 i am shooting a ruger MKii and have 3 mags if i need more i will try to find them by Sunday or if you know you are going to be there can you lend em a few. and last approx how many rounds of ammo and do i need to preregister.

Thanks

Don't quote me, but CJ's match is usually run the same day the OB one is every month, I also think it's a static steel match, so you would be best to get 2 more mags being you would be shooting 5 times on each stage. While you can get away with 4, 3 is cutting it a little close, and keep in mind this would be with people on your squad loading mags for you as you were shooting.

Just keep an eye on the thread, I'd bet someone will chime in with some extra mags or ones they would be willing to share with you.

Well there are NJGF T-Shirts that many of us have..

I'm sure after a few events people will put screen names together with faces.

I got to meet Vlad last Friday night at Old Bridge. I knew it was him right away, but then again, the accent kinda gave him away.

He's a funny guy. I told him that I'd read some of his postings on NJ Gun Forum. "I'm sorry about that" was his reply.

Had a great time by the way. Looking forward to doing it again.

I have a membership at GSSC in Lakewood.  The guys there are awesome and I love shooting there.  But there are limits to an indoor range.  I'm planning on joining Central Jersey Rifle & Pistol Club this month.
What's been your experience with the club and is it worth the $$?

Looks like a pretty good deal for a decent steel target with stand.  Can always replace the target once you shoot it up.  3/8 inch.  Regular price $80, on sale for $49.99 and free Prime shipping.  Shipped and sold by Amazon so if it is crappy quality I am fairly sure they will stand behind it.

Just wanted to say thank you and welcome (again) to Glenn of Pew Pew Plates.
Many of you should already know Glenn, as in GlennP.... but he decided for some silly reason to provide the gun community with awesome Steel and Steel accessories, and thus changed his name to @Pew Pew Plates.
His website where you can check out the products is www.pewpewplates.com and can be found on FB, Instagram and others.

      Hi Guys,

      Another question regarding Mosin ammo.

I had a small run in with my home range about the ammo that I wanted to feed my Mosin this evening. When I acquired the rifle, I got about ~650 of surplus ammo. These rounds have FMJs, however my range seems to think they are steel core because they are magnetic. I have no way of knowing for sure, so I have come to the ammo gurus to find out. How can I tell? And better question, if they are NOT steel core, how can I convince my range? I have attached an image of the ammo for reference.

On a similar question, when buying Mosin ammo online, how can I know for sure that these rounds have a lead core?

    • Press Release May 2, 2024 Hodgdon Powder Company Acquires RCBS Reloading Hodgdon Powder Company is pleased to announce the acquisition of RCBS Reloading from Revelyst, a segment of Vista Outdoor (NYSE: VSTO). This acquisition is effective May 2, 2024, with Hodgdon prepared to immediately continue shipping RCBS products to wholesale and retail customers.   “This acquisition of RCBS, the leading brand in metallic reloading tools, is a perfect complement to our portfolio of smokeless powder brands for our handloading customers,” said Steve Kehrwald, president and CEO of Hodgdon Powder Company. With our world-class ballistics labs, we look forward to providing even more load data to our new RCBS customers.”   Hodgdon is thrilled to add the RCBS facility in Oroville, CA to our company-owned facilities in Shawnee, KS, Herington, KS and Miles City, MT. Hodgdon, co-owner with his late brother Bob, of the Hodgdon Powder Company. “Our dad Bruce partnered with Fred Huntington from RCBS to conduct Reloading Roadshow events in the 1950s and 1960s. I believe they both are looking down today, proud to have our two great brands together in 2024.”   “For more than 80 years, RCBS has demonstrated their manufacturing, innovation and operational excellence,” Said Eric Nyman, Co-CEO of Vista Outdoor and CEO of Revelyst. “We are thrilled for RCBS and their new ownership with Hodgdon Powder. This transaction joins two iconic brands, and it ensures that RCBS is positioned for success in the next chapter of its history.”
    • I used to have one of the old sky screen chronos,  but they dont work indoors.  So I recently broke down and bought the new Garmin Xero Pro.  It works indoors and doesnt record the guy next port over.  Buy once cry once.  I have Lee Loadmasters with ALL the modifications and they work perfect.  But I dont use them in full progressive mode.  Once all dies are set up,  I manually load a case and bullet.  Add case and bullet...pull handle...one completed round.  Repeat.  I go slow.  I am proud of the effort I put into these rounds.
    • Hmm.. Closing the gun-show loophole and expanding background checks is a step towards ensuring everyone's safety, right?)
