Need a Good Flashlight

Recommended Posts

These are all great suggestions, guys. Looks like I have a lot of options. Learning a lot about lights that I didn't know, too. And a special thanks to SgtToadette for that extremely informative post. Something like that is just what I needed to help me make a decision.

Can anyone shed some light on the difference between these two models?

The Quark Pro QP2A-X - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0400AG0528&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleMKP&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleMKP-_-pla-_-NA-_-NA

The Quark Pro QP2L-X - http://www.etoolscity.com/foursevens-quark-pro-qp2l-x-flashlight.html

The latter puts out more lumens (360 vs. 280), and it lasts about 4x longer than the former when set on maximum output. I assume that's because the A model takes AA batteries and the L model takes CR123A's.

So then why is the model that puts out more light and lasts longer a couple dollars cheaper?

Those two lights are pretty much the same thing with the exception of the power source. Why one is cheaper than the other? I'm not really sure. Probably just a retailer thing.

Their dimensions are also a bit different because 123 batteries are shorter and a tad thicker than AAs. FourSevens website does a pretty good job breaking down the different specs for all their models. I'll use it for reference then punch the model I like into Google Shopping to actually buy it.
