Info needed on a S&W Model 659 9mm

Recommended Posts

If you have experience with this gun, please advise. It doesn't seem to have many negative reviews (limited though they seem), except that it is large and heavy and there are better S&Ws out there, such as the 5906. It seems to be a 2nd generation S&W that has a double stack magazine and it has quite a large grip. It is stainless with an adjustable rear sight and decocker/safety? Please advise on reliability, magazine size/availability. Are magazines interchangeable? Are there aftermarket and grips for it? What is a fair price for one, etc.

If you have experience with this gun, please advise. Yes. It doesn't seem to have many negative reviews (limited though they seem), except that it is large and heavy and there are better S&Ws out there, such as the 5906. Correct. It seems to be a 2nd generation S&W that has a double stack magazine and it has quite a large grip. Grip is no larger than 3rd Gen. It is stainless with an adjustable rear sight and decocker/safety? Yes, double stack. Could have fixed or adjustable sights. Could have decocker only also. Please advise on reliability, magazine size/availability. Very reliable. Recoil spring should be replaced. 10 or 15 round mags available. Are magazines interchangeable? Yes, 1st, 2nd & 3rd. Are there aftermarket and grips for it? Yes. What is a fair price for one, etc. $300ish?

The S&W 59 series are good guns. I have a 5906 and enjoy it. It's an all metal gun which gets a little heavy for CCW (if you travel out of state to do so) but it is still manageable. Kel Tec has a version of their Sub 2000 which used the 59 series magazines.
