Over 70% don't know the Constitution is the law of the land. Over 60% don't know there are 3 branches of Gov. How are we supposed to have a rationale conversation?

That's half the problem. More times than not nowadays, it's "parent" not "parents" and in many of those homes that do have "parents", they are not engaged with their kids lives. So sad really.

It's not always the single parent's fault, though. If they have to work 70+ hours a week to support themselves and kid with the low wages most jobs pay today, of course there is no time to take care of their children.

 

Also, as far as "Ignorant Americans" keep in mind a quarter of the country thinks the earth is 5,000 years old and half the country also believes that the wealth "trickles down"

With all due respect, I'm not looking for anyone to defend it, justify it or explain it. The fact of the matter is that when a kid doesn't have access to a Mom and Dad, their lives are lesser than what they could have been. As it everything, there are a few exceptions, but for the majority, I believe this ot hold true.
