What knife opens faster? Draw Comparison Video.

Recommended Posts

Not like this is a scientifically backed study, but I made this video a while ago.

It was more to point out why knife laws are in fact DUMB. It is clear any of

these knives can open as quickly as their counterparts with the same amount

of ease. It also proves that the balisong which is illegal serves no advantage

in respect to its method of deployment. In fact it is more dangerous to the USER.

Hope you enjoy.

NJ knife laws make no sense. Bali's are illegal for the same reason flash suppressors and bayonet lugs are illegal on AR's. because they look and sound scary lol.

That said, I have all kinds of knives because I collect them. Autos, balis, assisted, customs and productions of all kinds. I love steel!! lol

A better comparison would be from concealed to full open.

I prefer manual over auto since I have more control of the blade under various circumstances.

I'm actually going to make a video comparing draw speeds with a pistol from concealed and

a knife from concealed. I'm quite sure the gun is much faster. Then again i have more practice

with the gun then i do the knife. But we'll see.

Try a dry run.

Holster a unloaded.

Pocket a stub/hole knife.

Have a friend run at you from say 15 feet and try not to back up, as if you have a wall behind you.

The reality of both will surpise you.

Do the same at arms length say on an unloaded pistol.

Make your move to deflect and see if the trigger is pulled in time ... it can't be done .. even knowing your gonna try it.

Lets not even get into the fact that now your hand is on the gun .. leverage.

Yeah good points. I've seen some demos of what you're saying on youtube and it is surprising.

I just want to make the vid for demonstration sake, not really to make an argument either way.

I really have no clue when it comes to self defense applications with knives or firearms.

This is GM's updated version. it might be  pump gas 10-1 engine The L88 was a aluminum head  cast iron block engine with a nasty solid lifter cam. the  ZL1 was a all aluminum  12 or 13-1 compression ratio engine with the best forged internal parts at the time and had a even nastier solid lifter cam
    • I like my regular carry holster.  OWB leather with belt slots.  I've been carrying for over a year and it was comfortable and I hardly even noticed it.  I carry (usually) a Ruger LCP .380 - light, convenient, tiny. But...today I ended up taking it off an leaving it home after a few hours. I cut down a big maple tree a few days ago and I spent 3/4 of today loading and unloading firewood into the back of my truck and a trailer.  It was a warm day, I was dirty, tired, sweaty, and my holster was rubbing against my side.  The leather and exposed metal snap was no longer comfortable. I'm thinking about adding a layer of something to that part of the holster to soften the contact.  Anything insulating will make it worse.  I don't want a sweaty, hotter holster against my skin.  I'm imagining something thin, breathable, that won't absorb sweat, and softer than leather, metal snaps, and rivets.   But I have no idea what would work. I'm hoping somebody else has already figured this out and I can just do what they did. Any suggestions appreciated.
    • Check the primers on the ammo you didn't shoot yet. Are they fully seated? If the primer is not just below flush with the back of the case, the first hit can seat it better then the second hit ignites it.
