Why? How does this help the 2a cause?

 

This story can be seen from multiple perspectives.

a. The guy is a lousy father who didn't properly parent his child nor did he know what his child was up to which ruins his credibility. This points the finger at lousy parenting as the problem more so than guns.

or

b. This guy is professional LEO with related experience and hindsight [which we know is 20/20!?]. Since this panel is looking at more than just gun control his knowledge could be valuable when coming up with ways to combat this problem, such as educating parents on what types of behaviors can be indicative of a mass shooter-to-be.

 

People see what they want to see, ie, pro 2a will see option a and the others will see b. It's irrelevant and probably does more harm than good when read by a person who is anti or on the fence. It's just one more negative association for firearms.
