Doesn't California have the highest number of gun owners in the country?

 

I know when I was out there in the mid 80's everyone I knew had a gun, didn't matter if they were in this country legally or not they were packing..

Not by a longshot. Largest number of gun owners belongs to one of our great hunting states - Wyoming, and has for many years. California doesn't even enter the top 20, but does have about double NJ. Of course, this is considering legal ownership.
