PEACEFROG 16 Posted March 26, 2013 Can someone explain to me the whole process of using a FFL from NJGF in the purchase of a ar15 Lower. I live in Monmouth County to narrow down the FFL. Do I contact the FFL or do I make the purchase first from the vendor? Appreciate the input and recomendations as always
tj462nj 32 Posted March 26, 2013 you might want to give a forum vendor the business before you purchase something online
PeteF 1,044 Posted March 26, 2013 Contact the FFL first. Make sure he will accept the transfer. Ask about transfer fee so there are no surprises. Additionally the FFL has to send license info to the seller, so the seller can ship the lower.
nuclearheli 40 Posted March 26, 2013 Simple process. Contact the FFL and get a copy of their license. Then go on line and buy your lower. Send the license to the dealer that you purchased the lower from. They will ship it to your FFL. When it's received your FFL will run your NICS check following a little paperwork. When the NICS comes back approved your FFL will complete the transfer by completing a Certificate of Eligibility and give you the lower. I just did a lower. $15 for NICS and $20 for the transfer. Each FFL has a slightly different procedure but in the end all the paperwork is the same.
