anyone use small rifle primers instead of small pistol primers

i accidentally used rifle primers instead of pistol primers. will these be ok to use or should i not use them. They are 9mm with 122gr cast bullets and 4.7gr of powder.

Need a little more info first. What type of powder? Whose primers?

With a thicker cup, you're going to need a solid firing pin hit to make the SR primers pop.

All depends on the handgun you're using.

I substitute CCI small rifle primers all the time -- Never had an issue --

 

Honestly, I don't expect to ever buy small pistol primers again -- 9mm - 38 super - 38 special - 357 mag

You are fine, all I use is small rifle now for both pistol and small rifle. I know a lot of other people who do the same. You'll probably pick up a touch of extra pressure and velocity, over the chrono I see a 20-50 ft./s difference from the primer change depending on powder and bullet, but unless you've loaded +p loads to begin with unlike the more likely mild loads then you should be fine.

No particularly, and if I'm short I'll buy pistol primers, but it just makes logistics easier. All I need to do is stock one type of primers, I can buy it in bulk when the price is right, and I don't have to worry about maintaining stock of the right kind of primer in my house.

Thank You for the input guys. They say you learn something new every day and this is no exception. The rounds i loaded are for my Hi-Point 9mm carbine.
