BlueLineFish 615 Posted August 23, 2013 And I'm going by a conversation I had with a friend of mine that was on the scene. Ill even quoteIn their defense, it's an imperfect world and decisions are made with imperfect info.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD Exactly...they get intel from sources that are usually not the most stand up individuals. Also most time people that harbor fugitives are not Boy Scouts themselves. Oh and if you are harboring a fugitive you are committing a crime if you know they are wanted. deerpark 83 Posted August 23, 2013 My comment about neurosurgeons was sarcasm. Your comment about cops qualifications is woefully lacking. Like the critics in this thread there is a lot of info lacking in your statement. Being that you don't see cops telling people how to be construction workers, mechanics, IT specialists or whatever. There is a lot more to being a cop than what you've stated. The call to do what was done in the OP was not done by someone with a couple of years on thejob. True, you were just stating an example. With regards to officer qualifcations, I'm not off. Some places have slightly more requirements, but otherwise, what I said was accurate.
deerpark 83 Posted August 23, 2013 shows how little of a clue you have. I guess your comments are indicitive of your ignorance. To be a police office most depts in the area require at least 60 college credits. The job is so competetive that the more school you have the better it is for you. Do you NEED a degree to be a cop, no but it is required in most cases. A GED will get you nowhere. No ignorance whatsoever. Most departments? Where? Most of the job listings I see require a HS diploma. Even if they require 60 college credits, I'm not that far off. And they will also get an exemption for military service. What does it take to join the military? Nothing. Lets not kid ourselves, the basic requirements to become a cop are ridiculous. Yet, they put themselves on some kind of pedestal. Why? I'm not sure. Guns and badges are handed out like candy. IMHO, the basic requirements to be a cop should be MUCH more stringent. A college degree should be the bare minimum. IMHO, they should be required to have an advanced degree and there should be a minimum age requirement.
