HavocMan 13 Posted August 22, 2013 Hey all, I'm going to move closer to work in order to shorten my commute. I live in Paterson and work in Linden. Right now the commute varies. Sometimes it's a 35 min drive, sometimes it's a 90 min drive (welcome to NJ). Right now I have a pretty decent relationship with the local detective. Handgun P2P's take 8-10 days. Want 3, 4 or 5 P2P's? Need an extension? No problem, just stop by his office. I'm wondering if there are any forum members that live anywhere between Linden and Westfield and/or anywhere between Kenilworth and Metuchen. Specifically, I suppose I'm really looking for a "gun friendly" police department so I can get P2P's and my FID card fixed promptly.
John Fox 5 Posted August 26, 2013 I think you have to apply to the State Police for a change of address on your FID.

jm1827 284 Posted August 26, 2013 Stay away from any municipality that has no PD, because then you would have to use the NJSP. From my expereince and that of several others here, they are not very timely when it comes to FID/P2Ps. My change FID of address took almost 6 months and my latest P2P process is already over 2 months and counting.

Ian S 22 Posted August 26, 2013 Maks started a compliancy project (click the link) thread a couple years ago. Your best bet will be to search that for any potential town you're looking at and see forum member's past experience.
