Saw this on another site today.  Agree it's admirable of them, unfortunately it means another US company will inevitably send a similar rifle to Pakistan and it will most likely wind up on the black market just like all of our other weapons.  

 

Look up the VICE segment on purchasing weapons in Pakistan for a particularly disturbing insight on how easy it is to buy weapons that are stolen/misappropriated there.

I'm sure that our Govt in there infinite wisdom has supplied billions in weapons systems to this crap hole of a country. I would like to see them supplied with a few thousand cluster bombs delivered via air mail

I saw that in the news today, good for them.  Unfortunately there will be another company that doesn't have such high standards and will supply them with anything they need.

 

I also agree whth what others have stated, it is time we stop providing aid to countried like this.

True. If we don't sell to them, the Russians or Chinese will. Either way, they will get the weapons.

They bid on a contract, with full knowledge of the buyer's identity, then withdrew from consideration?

 

Credit to them if the stated reason is the truth - but still, withdrawing from consideration is not the same as declining a contract.
