Building 1st AR question

Recommended Posts

It was only a matter of time before I started an AR build :icon_e_biggrin: to sit along my Colt HBAR. I have most of the components ordered, but currently stuck on the minefield of NJ laws.

I would like to order this barrel and brake from the manufacturer:

and buttstock from a LGS:

If I'm reading the laws correctly, since the barrel is threaded I need the muzzle brake pinned or welded to make me legal? I'm already aware the buttstock has to be pinned as well.

The parts arrived the other day and I assembled the upper over the weekend. I dropped the upper at Ottomanelli's yesterday and they are going to pin and weld it. While that is getting worked on, I am completing the lower and should be completed by tonight.

Once everything is back, pictures will follow shortly.

I just replaced the crowned barrel on my Car-15 with a 14.5" one with one of those 5M1's on the end... Thing looks nasty now. I sure don't ever wanna be on the business end of it. I also just finished a build where I used one of those w/ the non-aggressive tips, and it works beautifully. They're great brakes, you'll be happy with it once it's together. :)

Can't wait to see the pics! Let us know how that barrel works out!
