illy 1 Posted August 8, 2014 Or not. Backstory: I went out to CRRC today for the Thursday night pistol shoot and as I was unpacking my range bag I realized that I brought everything but my gun. ugh. Luckily my buddy Wenshih was there with a couple of extra guns. Talk about saving the day. So instead of driving home pissed off, I got to shoot 3 different guns, 2 of which I hadn't shot before- PX4 Storm, 9mm (1st time), Sig P226, 9mm and a GLOCK 21 (first time shooting any GLOCK). Results: I shot the G21 a lot better than either of the other two guns. The much maligned grip angle? Felt totally natural to me. The allegedly sucky trigger? Yeah, not super crisp, but not the worst I've felt by far. Sights? Good enough to get on target from 25yds at dusk. Bottom line: I'm sold.
seamusSU 0 Posted August 8, 2014 I've tried to like Glocks before but I really hate the grip angle. It really just doesn't work for me. I didn't mind the trigger though.
glockamole 0 Posted August 8, 2014 Love my 21. Definitely a great gun. Never a issue with it.
checko 180 Posted August 8, 2014 I don't think the trigger bothers me so much. The grip is not a positive though. Id own one but its not near the top of my list.
Dan_G 0 Posted August 8, 2014 I got rid of my G17 because the grip was too square.
kman 56 Posted August 8, 2014 The trigger on a Glock isn't necessarily bad, it is just completely different from traditional. Once you get used to it, it can be oddly satisfying in how it works.
Vlad G 345 Posted August 8, 2014 The 21 grip also feels slightly different to me then the 17/22/34/35 because it is a fatter grip and the angle works a bit differently. Some with the 19, for some reason the grip angle doesn't bother me on the 19.
david8613 69 Posted August 8, 2014 4th gen grips feel so better than 3rd to me.
PD2K 115 Posted August 8, 2014 Funny...my cousin shoots my Glocks better than his pistols. But he will never buy one because they are "ugly."
msokad 3 Posted August 10, 2014 For years I said I would never own a Glock. It's an ugly gun, trigger is different etc. Ate my words last year and now have 2. No regrets and both are great shooters.
lunker 274 Posted August 13, 2014 The Luger and the Ruger Mark pistols have always used that grip angle. Once I got past the "differentness" of it compared to what I was used to, I found it to be a natural pointer. Even the famous Colt 1911 added a palm swell early on to get something of the same effect.
45Doll 5,877 Posted August 13, 2014 Don't let my wife know. She thinks she's a Glock Girl. Wait a minute... she IS a Glock Girl!
Sandy 44 Posted August 13, 2014 I'm a convert too. I wanted to hate them , I really did. But everytime I taught a 1st step pistol and used the range Gen 3 G19 I found myself shooting it well and really liking it. Tried to ignore that ..then it happened. I tried a friend's Gen 4 G19 and liked it even better so I broke down and bought one. Now I have a G19 , G41 , and G35 . Oops. I find the grip angle and overall frame ergonomics on the Gen 4s to be much better for me . Grip angle is a very personal thing and it seems that with the Glocks one either loves it or hates it. Oleg 8 Posted August 13, 2014 I am sure Glocks are fine handguns but there is something in the name that turns me off. I have zero interest in even trying one. I thought about this for a while but could not come up for any good reason why I do not like name Glock. The only reference I came up with is bad alien Glock from old russian cartoon. This must be a reason Good thing there are great alternatives to Glocks out there.

45Doll 5,877 Posted August 13, 2014 Pete's Boss: My wife is tall and has large hands for a woman. She really likes the Glock grip, the same blocky one many people complain about. She definitely prefers it to the more ergo grips of M&P, Sig etc. She shoots all her Gen 4 Glocks well with the medium strap installed. Now get this. My stepdaughter suggested I take my wife's ex-husband's wife to the range for her second time out. (If you say so honey!) She tried an M&P 45, Sig P226 9mm, a G23 and G21. She's also tall with large hands. And at the end of the session she walked out with her own G21. Really liked the large grip, and the grip angle. She shot it well considering it was her second session. Who would have guessed?
