removing red dot scope?

For anyone with scopes/reddots on their handguns....

Do you remove the dot off of the pistol or leave it on it all the time on the rail?

 

Got a tasco red dot... but doesnt fit in the s&w case. =) so instead of buying a new case.... remove the dot?

Depending upon the rings, it may or may not return to a satisfactory zero upon remounting if removed.

I leave my red dot on and just use one of those cheap, universal pistol cases you can get from Dick's or any gun shop for under $20.00. This also keeps my factory case in pristine condition if I would ever want to sell or trade in my pistol.
