  1. hoppes 9 and other gun specific cleaners work well enough i dont feel the need to use something thats not designed for guns. no need to risk anything just to save 5min of cleaning time
  2. if you knew it was legal already, why did you ask 'is it still legal to own.' everyone said yes, its legal to own, yet you kept on making points about how you thought it wasnt legal. if all you wanted was clarification on the law, you should have asked that. not if your gun is legal or not.
  3. its legal. end of discussion
  4. ive tried it. its only good if youre wearing armor, and/or always square when shooting. it works fine for that, but if you only 'action shoot', ie: run and gun, a few times a year, then its worthless. if you want to just shoot at a regular range off a bench, its very hard to square and almost impossible to blade. your nose is almost past the charging handle.
  5. play doesnt matter. it doesnt affect accuracy in any way. on AR guns, 100% of the accuracy (not counting the trigger pull) is contained in the upper, not the lower or the fit of upper to lower. if there is excessive play, then there is something wrong and can affect function. if it bothers you that much, get an accuwedge. but the difference is purely personal.
  6. shooting a bare bow takes pure skill and talent. my uncle used to be into compounds, getting all the latest garbage for them. until he picked up a recurve, and promptly shelved his compound and all the shyt he had hanging on it. once you add all the sights, weights, releases, etc. to a bow, youre no longer an archer....youre operating a machine. if you dont care about that and just want to hunt fast and easy, then fine, get a compound. but there is nothing in NJ you cant kill with a 45-50lb recurve and good arrows. in terms of accuracy, its the same as using a red dot on an AR vs, no sights at all, and just looking down the flat top. BUT, with proper skill, practice, and form, a bare bow with instinctive aiming can be as accurate as any compound. once again, my uncle can prove that, with 5+ arrows at 15 yards inside of 2in. i have a martin hatfield, and though ive lost interest in it, i was good enough to consistently hit a paper plate at15-20yds. true instinctive shooting is entirely mental. you need to become one with the bow, and as cliche as it sounds, you get in touch with the inner hunter that every human use to be, from the first stone age bows up to medieval times, as a recurve or long bow was the sole man portable ranged weapon.
  7. just a few month ago it was 140 for the same thing. 180 is very expensive for that. ammo is going up everywhere, especially in 223. once the election passes itll drop down again.
  8. remind me to not shake your hand if i have the displeasure if ever meeting you
  9. dont feed the troll.......hes contradicted himself several times throughout this thread. ie: and yet he rants and raves about doing whatever the patterson pd wants to do...fill out illegal paperwork, submit to anything and everything they say. well if you submit to everything, HOW are you supposed to stand up and stop this illegal process......which you advocate complying to?
  10. not to mention, unless you live VERY close to them, youll spend more on gas then you would if they shipped. im 130 miles from there. .40 cents/round, plus a nearly 300 mile round trip does not save a dime over ordering from CTD
  11. theres nothing that says you cant have a removable break. as long as its not threaded, ie: set screws or clamps is legal.
  12. i just bought an upper off someone from PA. shipped to my house, no FFL or any other paperwork. if they wont sell without an FFL, look somewhere else
  13. real silver solder is NOT soft. its used on high temperature, high pressure lines including medical gas. you may be thinking of regular soft solder you use on house plumbing. silver soldering is called brazing. they come in sticks, not on a roll. you cant do it properly with just a propane torch. to do it properly, you heat the metal till it glows cherry red, then apply the solder, letting the METAL melt the stick, NOT the flame. if you do it any other way, youre doing it wrong.
  14. another comparison, in new hampshire when you apply for a CCW and it takes longer then 5 days you can sue the police dept.
  15. its part of homeland security. every DMV does it, including wallington
  16. there is no need for 'tool kits', especially if this is your first gun. there is never a need to disassemble a gun so completely that you need special tools to do so. basic field stripping is all thats needed. outside of changing grips, which may need a screwdriver, allen or torx, you dont need tools. taking things apart will only end in lost or broken pieces. as far as changing sights, buy the gun first and use the stock sights. if you still feel the need to change the sights, youll likely need a specific tool for each individual gun, call a sight pusher. if one is available for your particular pistol (they are for berettas), get on only after youre 100% positive you want to change the sights. its much better then a hammer and punch. get a basic cleaning kit from any gun store, or if you want, get a full kit that can do everything from 22 to shotguns. any online store will have them.

  18. if you want work boots, wolverine or go to http://www.theunionbootpro.com/. 100% union, american made boots. every kind, size, and style you can think of
  19. i'll add this about MDTS. his carbine course is geared towards using the AR as a home defense weapon, as apposed to a main battle rifle. the differences are very slight, and the majority of the differences are in theory and mindset, as apposed to the physical training. that being said, im sure there are still vast similarities between gfh and MDTS. moving/shooting, positions, use of cover, reloading, transitions, etc.
  20. caine and i are planning on going to CR this friday, meeting there around 10-11, if anyone wants to check out the place
  21. any member can take 2 guests to CR. also, if you do join on that sunday, you can shoot immediately, provided you have the target stands and there are benches open that day, since it gets very crowded
  22. either michelle is pregnant or she chunked up alot since the show ended
  23. first sunday of every month
