  1. Ty hits the nail on the head. Glock has a production facility in Georgia. Does't get much more american than that. As to your question, one of the very best 1911's you can buy under $2000 is an STI. They are made in Texas.
  2. They work wonders better than almost anything else in its market.
  3. New 1911's are made much tighter than a soldier in the field would normally experience. FWIW some of the top quality 1911's i've handled (ed brown, wilson combat, nighthawk, les baer, and christensen) have had barrel bushings that were tough, but most could be turned with a pretty firm grip. The wilson combat tool is cheap and works well. Just be careful with a checkered spring cap because they tend to tear up what ever wrench you use.

    SDR Noob

Depending where you live, you may not be able to listen to any police, fire, or ems agency communication regardless of your setup due to many agencies migrating towards the new digitally encrypted trunk systems.
  5. Holy christ, can we get the mods to sticky this question, or one of the 50 other threads about this question. It must be asked once a month.

    Competition Shotguns

Check out the FN slp. Really nice, popular 3 gun gun, and its 6+1.
  7. NJ does not recognize antique firearms as exempt from the normal parameters concerning sale/transfer.
  8. What about competitive shooters who need to make 2nd and 3rd shots as quickly as possible. While my comp may not be "friendly" to my range mates, it does what I need it to do. When stage times are decided in as little as a second, the dead time between shots becomes all that more important. Its not my job to worry about the other shooters on the line. If the side blast from something like a surefire MB556 is that bad, maybe those who dont like it can move over a port. Paul- something like a MB556 would be awesome but coming in at a lower price. It greatly aids in the reduction of split times, but the price tag can be a little rich for some people.
  9. CJ is in jackson. Old Bridge is in Old Bridge.
  10. I hear ya Jer- just didnt want you to go through any more hassle than you have already. No interest in his square acct.
  11. I have no dog in this fight, but be very careful with how you talk to square about the refund. They are not firearm friendly and will freeze the account due to a terms of use violation. Big thread about it on FFLs only.
  12. Same with my NXT and DM6

I fell into a 1-4 Zeiss Diavari for next to nothing thats acting as a space holder for the US optics when I can summon the courage to hit buy.

    SPR build

Comp wise if you don't mind the length or price the surefire MB556 is very hard to beat. Glass wise a nice 1-4 or1-6 would be ideal.
  15. under 1k the trijicon accupoint is really nice. If you can stretch the bipod budget a bit, you're right in range of an atlas or GG&G.
  16. I use G. W. Jewelers in Milltown. I have yet to encounter something he cant fix
  17. They announce new membership at their December meeting and vote on them in early January. All new membership is conducted off the waiting list, and in order to apply you must be sponsored by a current member. Unlike many clubs in the area they have a capped membership limit, so they only open up as many spots that were vacated last year. Hope that helps.
  18. I work for a relatively new FFL shoot me a pm. One thing you should know - If you are not a formally trained gunsmith, take caution. Your insurance, even though you're required to have it, might not cover any accidents.
  19. Striker fired for defense, Smith Revolver for competition
  20. It will be fine. The ones used in OBRAMS have been abused and I have yet to hear a complaint
  21. Oh no, what will we do when they become self aware.
