  1. A doublestack 1911 in .45acp or a Dan Wesson Pointman 9mm. Yes, they were two of my recent new purchases and I love them both! No, mine aren't for sale.
  2. You need to be careful with .22's. Many are hollow point, though it's pretty hard to see! I am guilty of having them in my pockets, on the floor of my car/truck, hell, never know where you may find .22 ammo in my house. All it takes is for the wrong person on the wrong day to find that crap when I'm not going to a range, FFL, or other exempted place, and I could technically be jacked-up. Those .22 hollow points are just sooooo much more deadly than a normal .22. Reminds me, I've been driving around with two cases of 7.62 in my truck, I better make sure they aren't hollow points or put them away.........
  3. Trap: One man game, just stand there, be quiet, don't move until it's your turn. People can get annoyed with your fidgeting, and if you have a semi throwing shells at their O/U's, you're gonna get the evil eye................... Skeet: More of a group thing. Only one shooter on the line at a time. The rest of the squad is bs-ing and making fun of the shooter............. But, if the shooter is too serious, better keep-quiet. Sporting Clays: The most fun you can have with a shotgun except for Knockdown Steel. Again,a group thing. Only one shooter at a time. Usually one person is throwing the clays for the shooter, and possibly riding him/her for the misses. The rest of the squad sitting on the golf cart smoking stogies, eating cookies, just hanging-out and having fun. A pump action 12 gauge can be used with any of the above. The gun is usually not the problem, the shooter is. Doubles can be tough with a pump, but certainly can be done. I have seen it with my own two eyes and had to bow-down to her after she pulled it off at Lehigh on a very tough station!
  4. Either buy something halfway decent, or don't buy one. There are certain things you can't get cheap on. Why not enroll in a local votech program where you can bring the car and work on it as part of the class. I know people that have done this.
  5. The game and the commercials were pretty unimpressive this year. One of the commercials at the end with the "duck call" with Dale Jr. was funny.
  6. Small Mig made by Lincoln from Home Depot. I have a 240v model and use an external tank, works great. Never did anything over 3/16 steel. No way would I want to stick weld again. Have torch welded too, but I'll take my Mig any day.
  7. Many of the leagues let children shoot for free, or a discounted rate. Check with the league director and see what the charge is for children and what the age cutoffs are. We have PPC in two weeks, Valentines Day. Check with Rosie and see what the charge for kids are with his league. He also does a special for non-members (adults) $30 for two relays plus the 50/50. I have brought non-members with me and they have loved it!
  8. I drive past it a lot, doesn't look like anything has changed. I have never bothered to try to become a member even though I can practically walk there. Way too small, plus not even sure what the outdoor range is, or if it even used............ Looks like it might be 25 yards, too many trees/bushes/over grown stuff to really make it out.
  9. While they have a lot of rules that OBRPC doesn't have, they also have an AWESOME shotgun range which I would love to see at OBRPC one day.
  10. Feinstein before makeup. Lautenberg was about the same.
  11. I really can't imagine how many shot gun shells I have used in the last four years. My guess, 10,000 would be a safe bet. I have never had one that didn't fire. I guess I shall consider myself lucky. I have used a lot of Federal too, I honestly never cared what I used, anything # 7 1/2 or #8, I used it. Tried 3/4 oz #9 on Knockdown Steel once, that didn't work! Called the wife and had her bring a box of "good stuff" so I could continue that day! That stuff had no kick to it at-all. Glad to hear Federal is doing the right thing, good for them!
  12. Last October I went to pickup a handgun that had been sitting at one of my FFL's. I looked at my Pink copy of the PPP and saw the date, knew I was well past the 31 days, stopped there to get it, DENIED! Now, we had no clue why since their NICS check is done via the internet. My buddy there called the NJSP, took a bit, but finally found out I was denied because the 30 day wait period wasn't up yet. Well, since my last transfer was through them, we simply looked in their book and sure enough, the NJSP were correct. Their carbonless paper doesn't work that well unless you press very firmly when writing on them! The fella was very polite. I explained what happened, he was glad I actually knew the law. He spends a LOT of time calling people and explaining to them why they were denied. He apologized for taking so long to call me, the denial was about 2 full months ago. I said no problem, I was actually worried that he was calling to tell me my Exemption was denied, that would have stunk! He said few Exemptions are not approved, but good luck anyway.
  13. Lot's of fireplace kindling sitting with all these FFL's...................... I happen to like blue, can someone anodize an AR blue instead of black and keep me out of the "Bad Black Book"? Hey Paul, you missing our single digit weather and double-digit snowfall in Joisey? Buy anything "fun" in Free America?
  14. The Sig 1911-22 seems to be hit or miss............ I have one, Steve (Freejersey on here) has one also. We have done some upgrades to them. New mag baseplates which also allows more rounds and don't pop-off on you is a must if you use the gun where you'll be dropping the mags like we do. I have not changed the sights yet, Steve did, and I need to, those yellow dots suck. We don't need to remove the screw on the side anymore to remove the slide for cleaning. Some other stuff too, I forgot, I know Steve will let you know! Anyway, my favorite (for now) 1911 has to be my Dan Wesson 9mm, she is sweet! I have a Para 14.45 which is a double stack .45 (14 rounds) which is a blast to use with semi wadcutters, very little recoil! Not too bad with stock .45 ammo either. I rarely take my Springfield single stack out of the safe anymore, just keeps the revolvers and the other bottom-feeders company.
  15. Yes, but it needs to happen. There should be no need for a COE between to legal FID holders for handguns or long guns.
  16. Sounds like something Rosie would say!
  17. I do know that a complete firearm can not be shipped in the same box as ammo, that's all I can offer.
  18. I have one of them already, but I do have two hands! I also have four pistol purchase permits around here. Maybe I'll be going for a ride..........
  19. The five round rule is no big issue, besides, you get to practice mag swaps this way! I don't think they will ask you to load 5 rounds in a 6 round revolver, but check. There was a seperate .22-only indoor range there a few years ago, not sure if that is still setup like that or not. Was a good idea though, you could shoot in peace and quiet without the other handguns next to you.
  20. I used the Sporting Clays Online site to look for place, but most are open on Sunday only. Seems few places like Lehigh, M&M, or Cedar Creek exist. Bummer.
  21. Going there Friday and Saturday. Any Sporting Clay / Trap / Five Stand places to shoot around there? Most seem to be open when I won't be there! How about just a general range to use? Have guns, will be traveling, need something to do!
  22. I shoot Trap there a lot. Very nice group of people there. I have been indoors with a friend that is a member. That was a few years ago. I think they refurbished the indoor range last year, 2013, maybe 2012, ask Happycamper since he is a member there. Anyway, if you are that close it is worth joining. As already mentioned, if you want to shoot high power rifles you have to sit at the bench and shoot through a concrete tube so you can't accidentally launch any rounds over the berm towards the neighbors. You also can't shoot highpower on Sundays since that is when Trap is going, and Wednesday nights for the same reason. Unlike the deer and the thousands of groundhogs that run around on the Trap field, I don't think you want the lead falling on your head! You will have access to the indoor range 24/7, that is a big plus! They have a target retrieval system there, my club doesn't.
