I use Cablevision (only because fios is not yet available in my area). I pay a few extra $$ for the "faster" internet, but I think it's worth it. TV sucks though. DVR doesn't record properly and HD looks grainy.

I'll bite. Why park on the driveway and drive on the parkway? A package by ship is cargo yet a package by car is a shipment. Why do they call it taking a dump if you're not taking anything? I have no personal issue with you other than your unwillingness to help. It's not a problem for me either, just wasted space. Telling us you got your permits in 16 days without knowing from where is like telling us about a great deal you got for 1000 rounds of ammo, but you won't tell us which retailer.

Doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks IMHO. It was my understanding that this forum was to help others, talk about experiences, and just have good conversation. I can't help but feel negativity, distrust, and a bit of attitude coming from you. Not exactly a stellar way to make friends here. I'm new myself here, but wouldn't want to rub anyone the wrong way. All this over naming your local PD because of "16 days"? Grow up and grow a pair.

Not entirely accurate. The contracts with providers stipulate the length of time you are stuck with them. The fine print states they can change costs/fees/billing whenever they want, as long as they provide notice. Out of curiosity, how many people really need an unlimited plan? I've been averaging 1-2 gb a month. Maybe I'm just not using the phone enough .

Too bad you're up there.. Tastee Subs (Plainfield Ave) in central Jersey is quite possibly the best sub spot in the state. And they make great 6-footers too.

I just read through many of the comments on that Gizmodo article and I can't believe how many ignorant/uneducated people there are in this country. Someone recommended a paintball gun as a home defense weapon... WTF. They'll most likely continue to be ignorant until these people handle a real gun or get into a home invasion situation themselves. Funny... I don't live in an upscale neighborhood by any means, but just happened to notice an electronic sign the local PD just put up in my development. Something to the tune of "remove valuables from your vehicle and keep your doors locked".

Hey everyone, I finally decided it was time to post something about myself; I've been lurking on the forums for a number of months now. I originally found NJGF through a Google search on NJ Firearms laws and have been a daily reader since. I spoke to my local PD about a FID and purchase permits this past Friday and was told I should stop by after the holiday weekend. I'm going in tomorrow and will start counting the days, hopefully my town doesn't take too long on the turnaround. I read through the forums regarding the process/length of time for other members but I haven't seen anyone else try from North Brunswick yet. I'll be sure to keep you all in the loop. I'm definitely a beginner-level shooter and have limited experience with a few handguns but I think my first purchase will be a 9mm, most likely a Glock 17. I'm applying for 3 permits and would love to hear advice for handguns #2 and #3. I also read up on local gun shops and ranges. I'll be doing plenty of window-shopping during the wait, but from what I've read, I think Shore Shot or the Bullethole might be the best choices for buying. Also looked into Old Bridge as a potential club to join. Thanks to everyone for the hours of reading informative posts. I'm looking forward to gun ownership and the opportunity to meet up at the range! - Maurice
