  1. jackdawack & Vlad G, Thanks for the replies. I guess I try to think of this when you compare a 9mm & .45 ACP. 9mm has less mass & travels at a higher velocity than a .45 ACP. Kind of explains why people argue the .45 has more "knock down power" because the .45 ACP is a higher mass bullet which is fired at a slower velocity (I believe it's closer to roughly 900 ft/s vs. 1100 ft/s for 9mm). So many argue the "knock down power" is more because the bullet for the .45 ACP likely won't penetrate the target, thus the target absorbs all the energy of the round, thus likely "knocking them down." 9mm is a faster speed and less mass (smaller bullet) so it will be more likely to pass right through the target, thus not all of the energy will be absorbed by the target. I hope I generally got that right.
  2. That is news to me. Good to know for the future! Further proof you learn something new every day.
  3. And now NJ destroys the last thing that was stopping me from just giving them cash with a note that says "Use it <here>" with <here> being whichever store they want.
  4. Wow that looks nice. I may stop off on my way down to see family this weekend.
  5. FYI I went to Dick's at Rockaway Mall. They're out of the 7.5 shot size gun club, and I bought the last 3 boxes of 8 shot size. No idea when they'll get more.
  6. Yeah I don't need another .22 but if I did I would have sent lunker a PM already.
  7. Well apparently you're not as awesome at the gun range as you think you are!
  8. I laughed at the double tap mag dumps at 3 yards. Some of it was pretty good. "And if you do have to get a 9mm, like a big old girl..." Don't know how some of the people here aren't recognizing the sarcasm that's just flowing out of him during this video.
  9. Thanks. Going to run over and get a 10 pack of Gun Club boxes tomorrow and stock up a bit for this spring/summer.
  10. Yeah I'd like the big one for home storage because I like to buy ammo in bulk (cheaper) so I am looking for a good can to store them in. I have an M2A1 can (like the one on the right in the OP) and an M19A1 which I use to carry ammo and random stuff too and from the range. But I would like the big a** one (I think that's a 40mm ammo can) just to store stuff at home. If you guys did buy a pallet I would probably buy a few of these.
  11. I also have a Savage MKII. Love the thing.
  12. Yeah I picked up two 15/20 mags for a good price from my "distributor" above
  13. I have a private landlord who is...you guessed it, a lawyer. Luckily he's really cool. When I realized he had a "No Firearms" clause, I called my landlord 2 weeks before move in and explained the situation. Basically gave him the "they are legally under my name so I have to hold onto them. And they would be locked away and stored properly." He basically said that he had a friend years ago that would "get drunk and get his gun out" and didn't want any reckless gun use on his property. Once we saw eye to eye, he basically had me cross out the No Firearms clause and initial it. End of story, hasn't asked me about my guns since. If it's private, talk to him. In the end he's human and is understanding. If it's a business/management company, good luck. Some of them can be total Nazis when it comes to being lenient on some rules.
  14. Appreciate the insight John. Hopefully they get done soon. I'll probably sign up because it's dirt cheap. Can't complain about that.
  15. So I went last Saturday. Had a blast. We did 4 rounds, I struck 8, 9, 7, and 4 for each round (the 4 was with a home defense shotgun). I'm pretty set on getting the Mossberg 500 combo I had a link for in my previous post, unless someone can talk me out of it. For a good starter shotgun with options I'm pretty happy with what I'd be getting. Thanks for the help all.
  16. Fresh out of the box new. Plan on finishing the wood. WASR-10/63. Won't look cool compared to a lot of the pictures here but it's a start, so I'm excited. +1 for Jet Agent LLC and their work. Sling is Chinese military surplus sling.
  17. If I win the jackpot, expect the server costs for this forum to be covered for a long while!
  18. I came here to post that I would consider it everything in one of these: Guess it's a lot more than that. Like, a whole depot.
  19. Yeah my employer doesn't belong to that so I can't get NJ Manufacturers through work, but my fiancee is now on her own policy after being on under her father's policy with NJ Manufacturers for enough years. So we could just tack my car onto her policy.
  20. Way to keep the kid on the right track man. It'll work out better in the end. Trust me. I know from first hand experience (the one being bullied/constantly made fun of when younger). I stuck it out, ignored it, and now live a good and happy life where I play ice hockey , shoot guns, and have a fiancee that loves me more than anything. I LOLed at the cutting the bike in half cause it's definitely something I could see my mom and dad doing when I actually DID screw around. And since I didn't grow up with a lot of money, I knew I wouldn't be getting that back for a while.
  21. I'm on the same page with you, that since not all of the facts are out there, I'm not saying a word because I'd rather wait to say "not guilty" than jump the gun and find out that I'm wrong...thus making me eat crow. I use that rule in sports too: Don't brag about a win until the clock reaches zero. But I also wanted to note that, from your #2, I'm pretty sure I heard somewhere that he actually has a black brother in his multi-racial family.
  22. I've had Allstate for 9 years and never had a problem, even after a fairly major claim ($3000 worth of damage). I found a specific Allstate agent that is No BS and has always been a good guy to me and does his best to help me out. If I call and he isn't in I hang up the phone. Maybe it was just the location/agency? Either way, my fiancee has NJ Manufacturers through her father, and I really want to look into it. If it's cheaper than Allstate I would high tail it out of Allstate, even after the 9 years of loyalty.
  23. I didnt' either. My PD said that "everything is in, just need to finish it up" (to paraphrase) so they got it, even the finger print place said that they would send it to my PD.
