I don’t think there are any consistently quality 2gun matches out there. Your best bet would be to shoot 3gun matches but not for score. You could get a cheap semi auto shotgun and not even worry about reloading, essentially bomb each stage for score due to low shotgun score, but not have to deal with reloading if that bothers you. You would still get the exposure to rifle and handgun. 3Gun is the hottest ticket there is right now. There one thing I hear from practically every new shooter is “Wow! I can’t believe I waited this long to try this. It’s so much fun!” Quinton Sportsmen’s Club in Salem puts on an awesome 3gun match every 4th Sunday of the month.

True but depends on what your shooting. I see someone every month at a match shoot a non threat target at least once if not multiple times. Vision a threat target flanked vertically by non threat targets both above and below it. Stages are often built that way to be challenging and for those that don’t know their holdovers end up confused as to why they hit the hostage. I’ve ran the 50 yard zero my whole life until most recently specifically only if shooting at Quinton or a 100 yard range. Different strokes for different folks but either can work. The best best zero is the one you train with and know well.

You should consider setting your zero at 50yards or 100yards instead of just 25. 25 is fine to get your hits on paper initially but I would really dial it in further. No reason not to, since you have a range large enough. Then shoot at multiple distances 1 yard, 10 yard, 25 yard, 50 yard, 100 yard and 200 yard and record your hits. Depending on where you zero, you will have different holds for each distance. Knowing those by memory is key. I personally prefer prefer a 100 yard zero for Quinton 3Gun since that’s furthest we shoot. Holdovers are simple, hold 3 inch high for everything 1-50 yards and POA/POI for almost everything 50-100. If our matches had longer distances I would do a 50 yard zero

I have a shotgun shell carrier u could use, but it's on an ELS fork right now. I can try to see if I can put a blade tech teklok attachment on it when I get home to make it universal. Most guys bring extra gear and would be happy to let you use it. The more common your belt setup is, the easier it will be to borrow gear. A 1.75" Safariland ELS belt or a 1.5" CR Speed or DAA or scuba webbing or similar belt are the most common belt types.

I was the one who got a reshoot at last month's match due to the squib. After the RO had me clear the squib at the safe table, they went and asked the Match Director what to do in this situation. The Match Director alone made the decision to give a reshoot. -Corey Mulholland

Well the +2 is two reasons lol. We have to keep in mind this gun is 100% for carry not the range. But, I do prefer a 45 for CCW it's just that 5 rounds does bring it close for comfort. It's really a toss up... I go back and forth debating on it with this gun, specially when I compare it to my glock 27 giving me 13 of .40. Not that 5 rounds isn't enough to handle most situations someone would think.. but the reality is if you need to use ur weapon it's most likely going to be against someone with a gun themselves, and that means your going to be out gunned 99% of the time in terms of capacity. Getting mugged by a guy having 5 is enough but being in a liquor store getting robbed by 2 gang bangers puts u at a serious disadvantage. Having been in a gunfight capacity is not something to take lightly. I have a hard time deciding with this gun!

There is in fact certain lubes that work better on certain guns and certain lubes that work better in certain conditions. As per my example, Wilson combat oil is a thin viscosity oil that works best on tight fitting 1911's. How can you argue that thin viscosity oils are not good for tight fitting guns? That's the very purpose for which they are intended lol. If he would have asked for a good general purpose cleaner, lube, and protectant then I would have recommended CLP... If you want a lube that works best in dirty or desert type environment I would have recommended something like Militec1 that bonds to the metal and sets in under heat and becomes dry to avoid build up of dirt and sand.

Hey guys they announced the new XDS in 9mm at shot show last week finallyyyyy! It adds +2 to the standard mag bringing it to 7rounds and then 9 in the extended mag. The gun dimensions are exactly the same at 1 inch at its widest portion, only thing different is that it is slightly heavier due to the barrel being more dense because its a smaller whole. Just a few ounces heavier nothing major. Felt recoil is significantly less and there is virtually no muzzle flip. I can't wait to place an order and use it for my daily ccw.

Wilson combat gun oil is the best viscosity for tight fitting 1911's. I love it!

Magpul MS3 by the way

I think a single point with a single point along adapter is the most maneuverable sling to run. It's what I use personally. But I also have attachment points at the end of my stock and also right near where barrel meets the upper receiver. This allows for better range shooting while the single point allows for better combat type shooting. We ran single points in Iraq and Afghanistan

I went from a glock 27 to a M&P 40 full size and I couldn't be happier! I also added an apex comp trigger job and RAM and fiber optic front sight, and stipled the already nice M&P grip

Haha I said the same! PK99 had the land I wish regulations, permits and insurance situations were easier to get a range going but if so that would make a nice spot. Paul had excellent prices I agree on that and being an FFL if he can't beat it just get it sent to him from online. Catering to an LEO market mostly would boggle my mind since LEO have plenty of state ranges and department ammo they can go through rather than go to their range lol. And I'm a Marine added to that not just a occasional sport shooter. Regardless what your market is, a customer is who pays your bills. And firearms isn't socks or pants, it's deeper than that, it's a community and the weight of that is powerful. I guess as most are saying here, simple courtesy goes a long way in this business. There are many way to increase your bottom line and being the highest priced in town isn't always the best. I was previously a firearms instructor for traditional weapons and a length of foreign weapons as well. A tune-up on a pistol isn't much more than a proper cleaning in my opinion... Not much going on in a pistol, the barrel, slide assembly, and a trigger mechanism. . I could be wrong by they most likely cleaned your gun for you and called it a "tune up". Idunno about a Tune up like on a car engine replacing spark plugs and fluids and broken parts... It's just not the same for a pistol, I couldn't see them doing any trigger work or replacing any springs which in my eyes would entail a real "tune up". I am however glad you had a positive experience. And I agree with the others on bobs range physical quality being outdated. It is an old shop and they do close for dinner lol, but they run that place like a family more than a Business and a family has to eat! And despite my disappointment I will commend hagues on the quality of their indoor range. The place is clean and big and nice we can't deny that. But I don't think the cost justifies it. SJSC and Quinton and some other ranges not much further away offer more and for only $250 a year opposed to hagues at $400+ a year
