  1. LMAO re plode's comment about guns in Wildwood. Good people at Just Sports. Belleplain is pricey but has a decent sized inventory.
  2. 10/22's are great little guns. Congrats on that find. I'm with the others, leave it as is and have fun shooting it. You'll probably find yourself getting another 10/22 anyway since they are just like Doritos (you can't have just one) then you could mod that one instead.

    air/pellet gun

The Gamo Big Cat that Oakridge listed is a decent spring gun. A pcp gun is easier to shoot by comparison (since there is no spring recoil) but can be a bit labor intensive filling with air using a hand pump. As for damage to a spring powered air rifle keeping it cocked.....unless you are going to keep it cocked for days or weeks at a time, there shouldn't be a problem keeping it cocked while hunting. Even so, the worst case would be that the spring sets a little and you lose a bit of velocity, but you would have to keep it cocked for a pretty darn long time before that happens......cocked for a few hours while hunting should not be an issue at all. Also, the nice thing about spring air rifles is that you need a certain amount of follow through to shoot them consistently for accuracy. That makes them a convenient and inexpensive way to keep your firearm skills honed.
  4. Its funny, I had never heard of the term Taylor Ham until the mid 90's when I worked with a guy from the Patterson area. A few of us were getting ready to order breakfast sandwiches and he said he wanted his with Taylor Ham. We looked at him and said you mean Taylor Pork Roll? He said, it's called Taylor Ham. Then one of the guys said "It must be a North Jersey thing". LOL Whatever the term used, it's good stuff. On another note, in 2004 my wife and I had taken our first trip to Tennessee and I was checking in at the motel desk. When the girl behind the desk found out that we were from New Jersey, she made the comment "You're from NJ?....The land of pork roll" So, even she called it pork roll. First time I ever heard that also.
  5. My wife and I have land in Tennessee and have been trying to decide whether we want to move or not. We still have a lot of family and friends here so it's not going to be an easy decision. If it happens, it won't be for a couple more years anyway. Hmmm, maybe some of the legislators should read this thread to see how many people WANT to leave this god forsaken state.
  6. I know 1st hand how tough it is emotionally to have to put down a dog and I can most definitely sympathize with you. I've always liked German Shepherds and Siberian Huskies. Huskies are very good with kids but generally terrible watch dogs. The GS is a great watch dog and much more protective of "his family" as well as much more obedient and easier to train. Huskies pretty much have a mind of their own. I have one of each and really like them both for their difference in traits. Since you are getting a pup, there shouldn't be an issue with kids since the dog will be growing up with them. If you want some sort of home protection, the Husky would not be my first choice. The German Shepherd, on the other hand will serve you well. Sorry I can't offer any advice on a place for adoptions, I usually purchase from breeders.
  7. Ok, I'm going to give you something else to think about, LOL I was in the market a couple of years ago for a decent Gibson or Epiphone Les Paul style guitar but I didn't want to spend a ton of money. I had come across this brand during a pretty extensive internet search http://www.rondomusic.com/index.html These guitars are very well made for their price point, although they have been creeping up in price the past 2 years. I ended up purchasing one and couldn't be happier with the quality. Are they equivalent to a $2000+ Les Paul? No, but I would put the one I have up against one of the $1000 Les Paul models any day of the week. I spent $400. for mine (a neck thru body AL 3200). I already have a few brand named guitars and this guitar is better than all except for my custom Jackson Soloist that I had purchased back in the mid 80's. Do some internet searching about these and read up on them, you might change your mind like I did. Just something else for you to consider.
  8. I don't know if anyone here has seen this video yet. I had originally gotten a link to the short version sent to me by e-mail from one of my pro gun friends. This is from the perspective of conservative African Americans, but it applies to everyone. I definitely learned a few things from watching this, especially about how the NRA began. As I mentioned above, there is a shorter version of this video that cuts to the chase, but the back stories that are included in this longer version send a much more powerful message. Obviously, this is not something the mainstream media would embrace. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKMi023Ofro
  9. Great informative thread. Though I have to admit that I haven't been this afraid since I saw the movie Jaws when I was about 12.

    .338 Lapua Kaboom

Maybe the scope and bipod are at least salvageable. LOL. Sure glad to see no one was hurt seriously.....that definitely had potential.
  11. Yeah I found out the hard way also. Went to a shop this morning about 1 1/2 hours from my house to pick up a new toy and was told the "good" news as well. Ugh. The comical part of it, for me, I had gotten into a discussion with the shop owner about the last time I had purchased a firearm. It was last year during the gun rush and basically had to fill out the paperwork one day, then wait for over a week before the NIC's came back. As I was talking to him about this he said this new system was fast and hopefully we won't see anything like that again anytime soon. So yes, this was all my fault for opening my big mouth.
  12. Great info, thanks for posting. So, LEO's responding to this poll overall pretty much indicate that they think and feel the same about our gun laws just as the rest of us do. That's great. Now THIS is the type of info that needs to be utilized by the media and our elected officials, not a bunch of BS. But yet, the mainstream media continues to regurgitate skewed info contrary to this. WTF. GRIZ made an excellent point about getting info from the proper sources and this is just that type of info from the proper source(s). Who else see's various street level crimes and their impact on society on a day to day basis and can make the most reasonable cause and effect assessment based their own observations? Surely not some part time politician or even some journalist. No instead, they'll quote a guy like Charles Mainor and use his views as gospel to further their agenda. Troubling to say the least.
  13. pjd832 pretty much nailed it. Murderers could care less about restrictions or laws....they plan on committing the ultimate crime against society so how will some stupid restrictions stop them.....it hasn't before and it won't now or in the future. If they (the politicians) want to pass common sense legislation, as they call it, maybe they had better first find some damn common sense and not continually pick on the law abiding citizens. Also, great video! Thanks for posting SgtToadette.
  14. From what I read, PK90 had answered the questions that had question marks in your original post: "Can she come home to NJ?" and "Also a blind pin is sufficient for an adjustable stock?" Like Griz stated, PK90 had sold lots of pinned mags......I have a bunch myself that I had purchased from him when he was here in NJ. If you go to his website there are pics of them.
  15. Not too keen on the idea that someone would be living in my house without me knowing about it, but that can be quickly rectified. On the upside, I would love to have a hidden room like that. Could come in handy when the zombies attack.
  16. I would think that as long as it doesn't say M1 carbine on it, it should be good to go. I'm going to purchase one of those retrofit M1 carbine style stocks for my ruger 10/22. IMO, there is no way that can be construed as an M1 carbine type.......its a ruger 10/22 that would look similar to an M1 carbine but mechanically completely different. I would think that in the OP's case it would be the same. Different manufacturer, no interchangeable parts with a real M1 carbine, not to mention a different caliber too.
  17. Back in Feb. of this year I got the same exact lecture from the owner of Belleplain supply when I wanted to get a transfer for a Springfield M1A . LOL. On top of that, he told me his transfer rate was $75. I ended up going to Just Sports for the transfer. Still, they were easier to deal with but charged a $65 fee. This was the last gun that I had purchased and was in the middle of all the "anti gun craziness" so maybe their fees had come down since then.
  18. Great info, thanks for posting. Yes, definitely. Ahhhh, Those were the days. I can still remember the distinct odor of premix exhaust fumes. LOL
  19. Are you sure it wasn't something else other than just a flash suppressor? The reason I ask is because I've checked NJ laws and I cannot find anywhere where just a flash suppressor alone is listed as being illegal with a semi auto rifle.
  20. Ha. I think this clears it up beautifully. Well done! If that "commenter" is really pro gun, then we are in deep shite.....but much more likely that it is just another anti spreading his propaganda.
  21. Yup, I agree.....voyager9 nailed it. It's all about limiting liability. Basically the police have a duty to protect and serve when they swear an oath to office but, as in any real world situation, may not be able to under various circumstances (absent non, mal, or misfeasance of course). Generally, they can't always be there when needed and this just helps guard against frivolous law suits. To me, this should give the legislators the arguing point against their anti gun constituents that they need to relax the CCW law....but then again we do live in the _ ss hole of the nation.
  22. Just like the others said......it is NJ legal as it stands with a 5 or 10 round mag (15 if you can find someone who makes them). Just keep in mind that you will not be able to legally retrofit any type of pistol grip style stock on it afterwards since it already has the one extra allowed evil feature (flash suppressor). I have this exact same model and its a nice little rifle. If you can't find any in stock in your area you could hit up some of the FFL's on this site or call and see if anyone could get one from their distributors. They are listed as being "allocated" on the Davidsons website so I'm not sure what the wait time would be.
