  1. Well, you guys better hurry and stock up if you're using a trust. You never know.... http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2015/12/foghorn/submit-your-paperwork-now-atf-ruling-on-trusts-for-nfa-transfers-still-due-january-2016/
  2. I think it is a cool toy, but the velocity will make you wonder if it's a good 'defense gun'. http://www.sadefensejournal.com/wp/?p=1093 I load Hornady 55gr FMJ over IMR 4895 @ 25gr with CCI SRP and shoot it out of a 8.5" 1:7 5.56 barrel these are the results. Using a suppressor make a slight difference in velocity ~5fps or so.. So if you're inside a house when a round goes off without ear pro, you will not be a happy camper. High: 2256, Low: 2143, Avg: 2207, Extreme Spread: 113, Std Dev: 45 The same load out of a 16" 1:7 5.56 get me this. High: 2830, Low: 2737, Avg: 2780, Extreme Spread: 93, Std Dev: 33 Using 5.56 will probably get you better velocity, but I forgot to bring the ammo to try. I think Form1 takes about 4 months now, I just put another one in a few weeks ago also. I believe you can mate any upper to a SBR lower, so why not just put 5.56/.223?
  3. Sounds like a great idea!!! who do I make the check out to?
  4. I own a VP9 LE, PPQ M2 and M&P9c with aluminum Apex trigger and action enhancement kit. In my opinion, the Apex had the best trigger pull and reset. It better be, because its an additional $160! The PPQ has a nicer stock trigger than the VP9. But, I like the grip on the VP9 better than PPQ and M&P9c. And my VP9 shoots 5-6" to the left at 25 yds from factory. I just bought a sight-pusher to fix the issue. Knowing then what I know now, not sure if I would buy the VP9 again. Just my two cents.
  5. There is a new website called, LearnVest.com .... maybe give that a shot, its free to sign up and just plug numbers to see where you stand right now and there are a lot of resources on that site and everywhere else. I'm sort of a investment/number nut, so if you want a spreadsheet that takes current age, retirement age, investments up to now, expected annual return, annual payment/distribution, # of payments and all this indexed to inflation what you will have in today's dollars in the future just shoot me a PM. I'm also a fan of ROTH as well for the same reason Vlad stated, we don't know what the taxes will be in 20 years.
  6. Sometimes they do small amount just to test the water to verify the # is active.
  7. I was playing with it when during the Knob Creek event earlier this year, its nice but not $140 nice. If I remember correctly, at that time they wanted $90 or something.
  8. I just bought one... BIG MISTAKE.... should have bought FIVE!!!!
  9. I already have plans, but I might go if it falls through. Maybe we can pickup some NFA items for $250 a pop?! LOL
  10. Freedom of choice should be respected.... I would have done the same...
  11. Steve from Monmouth Arms has one on his wall, I was there yesterday.
  12. Thanks fellas... just closed on the house so looking to move after I make the 2 years at my primary residence so they dont' hit me over the head with taxes. I'm looking to join either www.rcwanc.com or www.cr-pc.org when I get down there.
  13. We were just in Charlotte 3 weeks ago and put in an offer on a house in the Highland Creek community and closing end of this month. We worked with an Exclusive Buyers Agent who was extremely knowledgeable with Charlotte, saw 200+ houses online and about 20 houses a day while we were there. Let me know if you want the contact info, she make everything REAL EASY.
  14. So, I was WRONG and maintenanceGuy and Carcano was RIGHT!!! After further research... http://www.state.nj.us/treasury/taxation/pdf/other_forms/tgi-ee/gitrep3.pdf It appears that if you look under how address is defined. Address: Seller(s) primary residence or place of business. Do not use the address of the property being sold. Unless a new residence (permanent place of abode, domicile) has been established in New Jersey and said new residence is listed under seller(s) information, the seller(s) is considered a nonresident. Part-year residents will be considered nonresidents. Seems like EVERYONE WILL BE TAXED if they sold and move out of NJ, without "Renting" first. Unless you close on 12/31 of the year? Just want to give everyone the heads up and consult with a tax professional.
  15. I don't even know how to respond to that..... LOL .... You the man!!! ..... I'm not a typical urbanite but just to fit your sterotype, I would move there just to fuck your shit up.... LOL.... Where do you live again? And why even start the post?
  16. Well, now those are statements I can agree with. Don't hate on all of us just because we have fucktards running the show.
  17. Getting worst is all relative, as with pretty much everything in life. Currently my property tax is $9,600 WITH abatement and HOA of $718 a month for 1,220 SQ/FT condo. I'm looking around Huntersville/Cornelius NC, where taxes is less than $3,000 with HOA of $55 for 2,800+ SQ/FT + 2 car garage. With just those figures and with cost of living adjust on salary, if it comes to that, it definitely better in my books by at least three fold. And NY/NJ is not all that bad, except for the Antis and among other things. I try to look at the BIG pictures. But thanks for the tip on traffic! Really? I've always been curious why certain residents of New Jersey seem to think they are better than the rest of us, and would NOT relocate to a place where are transplate from more urban cities. As a "Better Residents of NJ" also tend to group all others as Antis or Urbanites who don't know squat about living the 'slower' life. There are only 50 States, and I really doubt you will find a state that DOES NOT ALREADY HAVE A FORMER NJ Resident. So, I guess you should just stay put in NJ.
  18. I work in NYC as well, software test engineer. I'm looking at Charlotte, the second largest financial city in the US. Also have 8th largest airport hub if you travel and the weather is descent. There is also a flat tax rate now for the state at ~5.5%, I think.
  19. Paul.... You didn't file your taxes for 2013 yet?!?!?! I don't believe you have to pay ANY "NJ Exit" Tax, I'm pretty confident of it, however obviously it's better to consult with a tax professional... because I'm just a code monkey with finance/investment background.... Sale of a Principal Residence. If you sell your principal residence, you may qualify to exclude up to$250,000 ($500,000 for certain married/civil union couples filing a joint return) of any gain from your income. Capital gain is computed in the same manner as for Federal income tax purposes. Any amount that is taxable for Federal purposes is taxable for New Jersey purposes. You can claim the exclusion if, during the 5-year period ending on the date of the sale, you have: 1. Owned the home for at least 2 years (the ownership test); and 2. Lived in the home as your principal residence for at least 2 years (the use test). As for capital gain, see this link. http://www.irs.gov/publications/p523/ar02.html#en_US_2013_publink1000200659 Sources: http://www.state.nj.us/treasury/taxation/pdf/current/1040i.pdf (See page. 44, "Sale of a Principal Residence") http://www.nj.com/business/index.ssf/2014/07/your_money_njs_exit_tax_and_home_sales.html As for myself, we're going house hunting in Charlotte this coming week and will renting it out for a year until we can tie up loose ends here in NJ. I also moved to NJ from NYC 3 years ago.
  20. I have a SIG516, it's a nice rifle. There are nice little features that makes it different besides the piston. Cons: The piston system is a bit heavier than DI Wolf ammo doesn't cycle properly There are VERY few aftermarket rails to choose from However, If I knew then, what I know now, I would build my own AR... OR buy the M400 from Steve and slowly upgrade. Here is mines: https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpf1/t31.0-8/10497187_10152309660302081_5659588934942322082_o.jpg
  21. I don't have the latest model of the camera listed, but I've had earlier models. Canon Powershot G15/16 Canon S110/120 You can also get a DSLR setup for about $500, but I think you're probably better off with a advanced point and shoot.
  22. I do understand what the OP is referring to and I guess that why I have a few hobbies to keep things interesting. Owning guns are expensive, and I think by far is the most expensive hobby I had to date and the most difficult to have a social group with. I rode sport bikes for about 8+ years and finally gave it up. I remember getting on forums to met other riders, get a time and place and off we go or we setup track days 3-5 times a year. It was easy to met people with same interest, I've ridden with upto 50+ bikes but in the end it was just 4-6 responsible riders. Too much testosterone makes it dangerous and easy target for popos. However, it wasn't exactly cheap either because each track day is $350+ considering all the associated cost. It also assumes you don't dump the bike somehow. But back road was great, just need to getup at 6am on Sunday morning and beat the crowds. I was also into paintball for 10+ years and that was pretty exciting, the markers were upwards of $1,000 and entire setup will set you back about $1,500 but that's cheap when compared to looking at the contents in the safe. I only need 2 marker to have fun but I have a dozen guns?!?! ... LOL ... Each paintball day was about $150 a day all said and done and 2x a month. We had the regular 6-8 guys and it can easily swell to 15+ when the weather is nice. It was also easy to get people to play together because they didn't need to be approved by the gov't. Snowboarding is still one of our main hobbies, but it's seasonal and depending where we went it could be a money suck as well.... and once again, easier to have friends because you don't need a permit to ski/board. I've only climbed indoors and at that time, I had too many hobbies so I didn't invest too much time and money. I too was interested in the fitness aspect of the sport. Being only into gun for a little over two years, I've only met a handful of people that I can count with one hand and honestly it's kinda lonely.... LOL .. being what I'm used to from other hobbies. I'm pretty fortunate that my wife shoot and board with me. So I guess my gripe is that it's relatively difficult to find new friends to shoot with. We only shoot about 2x a month. But knowing what I know now, I would still pick up the hobby/sport despite the cost and lack of social gathering. Although we did just try USPSA and seems like it's a good way to meet people, I guess time will tell.
  23. Good to know!!! I have zero excuses from now one. Thanks!
