Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) introduced legislation Tuesday that would make it illegal to manufacture or sell a magazine that contains more than 10 rounds. Limits on high-capacity magazines have been frequently discussed in the wake of the Newtown, Conn., shooting, and limits on magazines was one of the proposals that President Barack Obama made last week. The limit on magazines would renew an element of the assault weapons ban, which expired in 2004. Since then, it has become legal to produce and sell high-capacity magazines. Support for renewing the assault weapons ban has received tepid response, even in the Democratic-controlled Senate. Lautenberg’s bill has sixteen cosponsors in the Senate, all Democrats. Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.) has filed a companion bill in the House. http://www.politico.com/blogs/on-congress/2013/01/lautenberg-introduces-ammo-bill-154907.html

TRENTON — A New Jersey assemblywoman has introduced a bill that would add an extra 5 percent sales tax on guns and ammunition. The money would fund safety improvements to public buildings. “Since the incident in Newtown, you start to listen to people. I’m listening to students, I’m listening to educators, I’m listening to everybody,” said Assemblywoman Connie Wagner (D-Bergen). “I think the first thing has to be to take caereof our infrastructure. then comes up the second question, well how are we going to pay for this?” Under the bill (A3727), gun purchasers would pay the extra sales tax on top of the current 7 percent sales tax. The money would go into a “Safety Tax Fund” that would pay for things like security cameras, electronic emergency notification systems, devices controlling entrances, panic buttons and doors that can only be locked from inside. Even though the bill defines a public building as anything from a school to a movie theater, Wagner said she plans to amend the bill so that it only applies to publicly-owned buildings. Wayne Viden, co-owner of Bob’s Little Sports Shop in Glassboro, said gun buyers already have to pay a $15 fee plus sales tax for a background check. In addition, there are fees for firearms purchaser ID cards and a handgun purchase permit. “I think they just want to charge more money for guns to try to discourage people from buying them,” Viden said. “There are so many useless taxes they have that they don’t use the money correctly for, what guarantee is there they’re going to use this correctly?” “I look at this just as a tax on alcohol or as a tax on cigarettes,” said Wagner. “I you want to use ammunition or purchase a gun I don’t think a 5 percent sales tax is much to ask for to provide for infrastructure improvement.” Wagner’s bill is about one of about two dozen that New Jersey Democrats have introduced in the aftermath of last month’s Newtown, Conn., elementary school tragedy. Gov. Chris Chrisite, a Republican, in July said New Jersey’s gun laws are sufficient. Thursday, Christie said he will create a task force to address violence in New Jersey. http://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2013/01/gun_tax_nj_bill_would_add_extr.html

I spoke with PK90 about me limiting a BX-25 mag for my 10/22 out of state, purely because I like the cosmetics of the 15rds. He told me that as long as it's permanently inaccessible to remove the limiter, aka, not bolts, but maybe physically unable to accept 25 rounds because of pretty much damage, than it's good to go. I thought of having an FFL, or out of state, maybe installing a permanent track or limiter inside the mag, and then replacing the bolts that hold it together with non removable pins or rivets, and glueing the body shut or something to that effect.

So, Your FFL Dies, Now What?

I read a story about this happening on r/guns. The person had no idea what happened to his gun being repaired after the owner passed away, and he reported it stolen after getting nowhere, and contacted the ATF. Within a few weeks the ATF got it back to him. -

So the phone line IS up? Or it isn't Because I prepaid for a 10/22 at Dicks in Union, and they refuse to do a fax saying the "fax they bought doesn't work" and keep telling me the NICS number is down. -
Reference Check
UnrestrictedEnthusiastInVA replied to Underdog's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
I have a completely clean record, and my town required both references to check a list of boxes about me answering to the best of their knowledge if I'm of sound mind and health, free of drug addiction, alcholism, seek to overrule the government etc, and then sign and get it NOTARIZED. Many towns do this minus the notarization -

Both of my parents have their original cards from '84 and still presently use them to purchase, my moms is laminated and looks the exact same as mine issued in 2012, and my dads was never laminated, and looks like it went through a washing machine and but it's still good to go! -

I always assumed arch angel stocks weren't really used in NJ because you can't have such a large mag. -

1. Application type (FID/permit w/ existing FID).: Initial I.D. and 2 P2P 2. Police Department where you applied.: Garfield 3. Name of the person you dealt with at the PD.: Det De Lamantia JR 4. Time taken to issue FID and/or permit.: 13 5. Documents required by the PD (aside from the standard application and the mental health release form). Waiver to contact employeer, waiver to check background, questionaree on why I wanted to purchase a firearm, and names DOBS and SS's of all unrelated coinhabitants that've used my mailing address within the past 10 years, plus a $50.00 cash fee 6. Notes - anything pertaining to the application process (unforeseen difficulties, chief of police calling your home, you hiring an attorney, etc.). Submitted my application on August 15th, and ignorant filled out the forms and payed the $50.00 cash fee, AFTER the morpho fee and NJ state fee. On the 21st I had finger printing, and on the 26th was contacted saying my permit will be ready within a week. After a month of not hearing back, I called and was told the detective was out for the next MONTH and that I never filed for a permit, I contacted NJ2AS and the NJSP and was told my $50.00 cash fee would be refunded, and my permit was found and would be expedited. A month later still nothing, after calling and leaving a polite but assertive voicemail they called back to pick up my permit. I didn't realize until after I left, it was SIGNED and ISSUED, 27 days after filing, .....although it took an extra two months to give me it. -

Even states that claim they haven't adopted it, don't have a decision as it's a federal law. -
I was just coming to ask a question similar to the OP's post. If SW limits their M&P mag with a pin, would it be possible to limit a Ruger 10/22 25rd magazine to 15rounds? I'm looking into a 10/22 as a first rifle, and I LOVE the extended mag look, but can't have it unless it's 15rounds, and right now I can't find anyone who produces such size magazines.

Ruger or S&W .22
UnrestrictedEnthusiastInVA replied to jrfly3006's topic in Rimfire Pistols & Rifles
I'm having this same issue. I really want a Savage .22lr Bolt Action. I really want the look and feel of traditional shooting like my father and grandfather use to do, and I'd love to learn on such cheap ammo how to aim, shoot, breath, stand etc. But I'm scared if I get the M&P 15-22 I might just have a load of fun blowing off hundreds of rounds versus learning to shoot round by round. Unless I get the M&P 15-22, and end up down the line with a .223 bolt action for some fun -
What happens when I don't fill out the information they asked me too, and it just makes them angry and they put my application on the bottom of the pile every time its up? I'm not saying theres no way to fight that, or eventually get it to go through, but I'm sure they could try their hardest to deny me or extend the process much longer then it should. Correction, one if an affidavit of residency, one is a waiver to search my background, and the third is simply entitled a Firearm Permit Application Questionarre. I don't have any problem filling them out, or have any reason not too, I was just wondering where to put the information, and what other people do who would have difficulting obtaining said information as it seems like a really strange request. The reason I was so confused also, is when I brought a money order for $60.25, the detective was extremeally confused on where I got the information, and gave me a letter that said besides my birth certificate and proof of address / drivers license and all nesscary forms, to just bring $50.00 even cash or money order. I haven't turned it in yet, but I did put my reason is Target Practice, which is the reason why.
