Am I the only one that found it odd that the article described the gun as black but never mentioned the race of the thief? Last I checked, race is one of the first things a normal person gives to describe someone.

I'm looking for a personal trainer in North Jersey (Wayne) to work with me in the gym in my apartment building. Probably a limited number of sessions just to figure out how to get the most out of the limited equipment. Looking for some general strength training but with a bit of a focus on improving my shooting support. I'd like to support a fellow member before just finding a random person.

I finally picked up my new Ruger Security Six this morning after a 3 month permit/OGAM wait. I was planning to wait and get a S&W 686 but I couldn't resist when I saw this in the used case for a ridiculously low price! It will now join my Mark I, 10/22, and American Rimfire. I'm planning to replace the grips but it seems my options are limited since it's an "old model" (150 series). Anyway, on with the pics:

I just sold my M9 once I finally gave up on the very large grip. It never fit my hand well, but was otherwise great. Just make sure if you have medium hands to try one out first.

Ok, so I just went back and read the actual research paper that described the blood test. The short version is they tested only 32 people who were already diagnosed with clinical depression and found a few markers that were associated with the depression. The markers and test are not part of a standard blood panel and is only really used in a research setting. This has not been replicated or tested on a larger scale. This is far from ready for prime time and should not even be a remote concern for gun rights. By the way, I hold a Masters in Neuroscience and work in neurology and psychology research.

A little reality check: there are early reports of a blood test that can identify certain levels in the blood that can help with a diagnosis of depression, but more importantly, can aid in tailoring the treatment for the individual's particular neurochemistry. The idea that this could be used as a screen before purchasing a firearm is frankly, ridiculous.

I sadly think I may win for oldest first shot at 31. I had shot a few air guns as a kid in my friend's yard but first time with a real gun was almost exactly 2 years ago in an NRA Basic Pistol class.

Hoffman's had a pretty bad PR issue after Sandy Hook when they changed their store policy to only sell black rifles to people over 21 when the law was 18. I know it hurt them for awhile but they must have made it through.

I've bought mags from them and was happy with the service and price.

All I have right now is 22lr and 9mm but I will be adding 38sp/357 in 2 weeks when OGAM is up. I'm planning to stick with those for the foreseeable future but may add a centerfire rifle caliber at some point.
