  1. Yeah I posted that in GFH radio on FB this morning. It's not totally over yet but the writing is on the wall. The only avenues left for them now are for a judge on the 9th to ask for a rehearing en banc (sua sponte) or for another case to be appealed to SCOTUS. And this will pretty much result in a cert grant. Don't start carrying in NJ yet though. But we are close.
  2. Does it matter? If it's not renewed can we all go apply and get approved? I'm thinking NO.
  3. The comparison is always being made to a driver license. Well, if we are comparing it to a DL, I want a carry permit if I am required to get training. There is no license required to own a vehicle, only one required to drive it on public roads.
  4. Everything from fear to curiosity, admiration to just plain indifference. It's a wide spectrum. Most don't care though as long as I keep them safe (whatever that entails)
  5. Yep. My house can actually run on 1-2kw most times. I have an EU6500iS. I have propane hot water, boiler, clothes dryer, stove. I also have a wood stove for heat. The only thing it doesn't run is central a/c but it will run a window unit just fine. We even run the dishwasher and do laundry when power is out. We just need to make sure we're not running the microwave, toaster oven and doing laundry at the same time.
  6. Don't think we are lucky dealing with NJSP. Sure they don't tack on extra illegal forms but they take forever to issue permits, they only accept paperwork by appointment and you can never get the sgt on the phone. At least that's how it is up here in Sussex!
  7. I renewed by mail, did not have to show anything. When next I go in I'll show it...
  8. It's so pathetic here often the races go uncontested or worse yet nobody runs so some unknown wins on a write in.
  9. If I change jobs I can run for office. That may happen. I am getting to the point of being just damn fed up... but there is an outside chance I might be moving out of NJ (not my first choice mind you).
  10. We have - just not in NJ but I feel we will prevail soon.
  11. Talking to people in those legal circles this was hardly something thought of yesterday. The momentum was building up for a long time and victories were won - mostly outside the USA. I try to learn from others to formulate our strategy. The gay rights movement is a good example of how to do things and get results by attacking on multiple fronts, turning small victories into bigger ones, being persistent and PR. PR is their biggest weapon. People thing gays and lesbians are pumped up guys with thongs wiggling down the street. But things like the old lesbian couples who just looked normal brought humanity to it. We should learn and emulate and we are to some degree. People such as Shaneen Allen and Colion help to break the stereotype that gun owners are all old white men.
  12. Gay marriage got a boost when the courts began weighing in. When DOMA was struck down, it accelerated greatly. Honestly I have zero problem with it. It's an issue of freedom and equal protection. Sorry to say but SCOTUS was right to strike down DOMA.
  13. I would be lucky if I could get a permit in 30 days. Try 6 months.
  14. I am all for unity. That said I have had disagreement with the leadership of NJ2AS. But I am willing to show a united force and join a united front. Hope everyone feels the same.
  15. Sounds like something I have to try.
  16. Not really. Before I moved here I looked at the poconos. When I saw what it had become I did not want to move there. Besides I worked in NJ anyway, as do many people who live in Eastern PA. NJ sucks overall but my part of NJ is quite nice and rural. If I could take away the bad gun laws and lower the taxes a bit I would love to stay. But as it is I see myself moving away, probably southwest. It's not just gun laws and taxes but the real and political climate. I was in Dallas the other day. I went to church on Sunday and it was packed. Packed as in ushers had to tell people to sit closer together and at one point there was standing room only. Meanwhile in NJ the church on Sunday looks empty like a weekday mass. You would think with all the catholic Italians here that Church would be full on Sunday. People seem to have more respect for God and country in other places. That is what I value the most.
  17. Pretty much. They don't call the poconos "Bronx West" for nothing.
  18. Never said that. I do think it is likely that PA will have a 10 round limit and assault weapons ban in the near-ish future. I believe that may-issue and local pre-emption are coming as well, so philly can ban carry like NYC unless you have one of their permits. I do know that if (when) Wolf is elected, no pro gun laws are going to be signed.
  19. Last two airports I flew out of were DFW and ABE. I don't like Newark airport for a number of reasons. I feel flying out with a gun from there is russian roulette because Revell from Utah was charged. I put my gun in a gunvault MV200 inside my suitcase and locked the entire suitcase with a non TSA lock. I declared it to the agent who gave me an orange card to sign. I placed it next to the gun case. At DFW they escorted me to TSA who opened it in my presence. I waited until TSA screening was done and they re-locked it. At ABE they told me to wait until TSA was clear with it. The TSA agent called me and asked for the key. She opened the locks, looked inside and re-locked it. Yes, you can lock your ENTIRE suitcase if you have a gun in there. I like that because if I have to put expensive things in my checked luggage (when I have no choice) such as camera lenses I would like to have a real lock and not a TSA "lock." Easy peasy lemon squezy. Also, I wasn't asked about any permits or anything even though I was covered in that regard. Keep the action locked open, and make sure the gun is unloaded. No rounds in the chamber. Magazines unloaded makes it easier too. Ammo should be in factory or factory like packaging. I pack two boxes of critical defense with me when traveling. I don't carry much because I might buy some .22LR if I find it, lol. Be aware of airline (not TSA) limits. Most airlines limit you to around 11lbs with some limiting you to 5.5lbs of ammo. I don't think any domestic airlines prohibit firearms anymore, the last one was USA3000 and they are out of business. Check the airline website and print out their policy and keep it with you just in case you get static. Also print out and keep the TSA guidelines. Helps you win the occasional argument if you meet an ignorant person.
  20. First post I see on this site is defeatists raising the white flag. SMH. Just move!!! When Tom Wolf (dem) is elected he promises to make PA like NJ with gun laws. The legislature can block him for now, but for how long? We have cases up and coming. We have to come up with a proper strategy. No it is not over yet, and SAF is on board. We have things going on behind the scenes. Nothing public yet but we're working on things. Other states (California) and DC have cases that could help us. National reciprocity can help us. We scored a win with Shaneen Allen. They are now reviewing cases where people have the book thrown at them for what is at best a technical violation. Doesn't directly help us yet but it opens a door. More importantly it gives us some momentum and shows that we can apply pressure with positive effect. Legislators are now paying attention to CCW where they wouldn't even give us the time of day before. Christie's office is addressing it too with correspondence. Progress is slow but it is happening. What do we need? We need to stop the defeatism. We won't win overnight but if we give up we have zero chance of winning. We need the numbers. We need YOU.
