  1. I'm looking to make the .308 version my first bolt rifle. My only gripe is the $150 magazines. My solution is CDI Bottom Metal, and Magpul AI mags. $210 for the DBM and $40 mags, sell the Tikka DBM and magazine to recoup some costs. Change the bolt knob, throw a Steiner Military 3-12 or 4-14 and call it a day.
  2. Im pretty sure that .243 would be an AR10 caliber, not AR15. Seeing as how the OAL of a .243 is 2.70X" and the mag well on an AR15 is roughly 2.4"... that would make feeding really really hard. Also, Black Hole is not exactly what I would call quality, but YMMV. You can get good quality barrels for not a lot of money from Rainier Arms
  3. This. Was in Philly this weekend and had a Shield on me AIWB the whole time. Spend the day with family and no one knew I had it on me other than my wife.
  4. Best advice on this site. I would suggest RCS but either way. Quite a few instructors won't let you use a SERPA in class.
  5. The way I read "valid license/permit holders from respective states" is that a holder of that state's carry permit, not a resident who holds a permit from that state. I am a permit holder from that state, meaning I hold a permit from that state. I do not see this language specifying residency. How come no one has had a problem with this language for 12 years? Is there an opinion by a certain attorney who publishes books on NJ gun laws and lives in NH?
  6. So what's this talk of the NH permit not being good in PA. The agreement has not changed since 2004 and people have been using it since then, no?
  7. Got mine in the mail today. 4 week wait it seems.
  8. Im pretty sure this rifle is purchased of this rifle required the same ATF forms and signoffs/tax stamp as a suppressor on its own. That would be your first stumbling block in NJ lol
  9. My check got cashed on Friday 7/22. I sent the application in just before the 4th I think. I put my FID # on the application but included front/back color copies of both FID and FL Non Resident Permit. Exciting! I'll be in PA a few times this summer
  10. I am guessing no permit and no inspection? That is completely against IRC. As other's have said before you hire a contractor, get references and look at other work they have done. As an Architect I have personally yelled at countless contractors who should not be building a dog house let a lone a ground up commercial structure. I don't take kindly to inept contractors, especially when they can't read the drawings and install a roof truss upside-down. Then when told they must flip it because the first time it snows the roof will collapse they try and make excuses. Lets just say this contractor was never hired to do any more buildings by this corporate client ever again. I have dealt with many residential contractors that were not very good either. The biggest problem I encounter is them not reading the drawings and "well I always do it this way" If you are doing things yourself, it helps to have recourse like a contract. I know AIA contracts cost $ but they will protect you quite well and stand up in court all the time. Never pay in advance either, when that portion of the work is done, you can pay for it. When you do make payments, always hold back at least 10% as retainage. Once the job is complete, all the punch list items are taken care of, you have all the warranty information and a letter from the contractor releasing all leans, you can release the retainage.
  11. It's just sad. Sad for the family of the guy who offed himself, sad for the business owner, sad for the witnesses. A relative of mine jumped of the GWB in January. Its just sad.
  12. I have the BulletProofMe Lvl4 standalone SAPI plates in a Crye JPC. Its pretty comfortable and the price for the plates was not outrageous. Thankfully I have not tested their bullet resistance but there are plenty of test videos online and it is NIJ rated. Only time I ever actually needed it was in a CQB class. I will test out running the PC in a carbine class in September to evaluate it it works for me. IMHO best way way to find out how gear works for you it to try it out.
  13. SWEEET!!! Mine went into the mail yesterday! I put the FPID number in the "Resident State Licence" field and included a copy of the FPID and my FL CCW. We shall see.
  14. Hey Sweetpea! I was at the Sunday class as well. Had a blast and learned a lot. Finally took my OBR our past 200y and it was a shit ton of fun. I will be at his Handgun 2 and Carbine 2 classes in August and September. He seems like a nice guy (over e-mail) and has great reviews. I look forward to the classes. I took their (Rockwell Tactical) Pistol 251 class (CQB) last August and learned a lot.
  15. I think I remember their being a Federal regulation that a flag must be illuminated from below. I ran into this a few years ago when the PM asked to put a 30' glad pole in front of a Cap One bank I designed.
  16. I think the are updating us fairly well, after all do do expect a daily update? If so, this is what it would look like: Monday: Nothing Tuesday: Nothing Wednesday: Oh Oh.. Ah crap, Nothing Thursday: Nothing Friday: We were told to wait till Monday Monday: Nothing.... The courts will delay this till the second coming.
  17. U could OC a holstered blue gun pistol. Just a harmless piece of plastic, gets the point across tho.
  18. I travel to free states often for work. I carry whenever I can.
  19. Got the email this morning and ordered 3. For the price, might as well check em out. Where prey tell? :-)
  20. I plan on having one for sure, store guns, ammo, have a reloading bench in there as well as keeping important docs and have it double as a panic/tornado//hurricane room. Using conc. block or pored in place concrete you can achieve 2-hr fire rating or better quite easily.
  21. I thought it was a comment on design. Just pointing out that most of those, are not in NJ and being in warmer climates makes it easier. As for the permit issue, you can just call it a closet. A concrete closet with a vault door, but hey, maybe you have a collection of Hermes Birkin bags lol
  22. D Don't forget that many homes down South do not have basements. Due to the high frost line excavating for a basement is not cost effective, since foundations do not need to be deep, why dig even more? Once you get south of VA, many homes are slab-on-grade, doing a concrete room on the first floor at that point, isn't hard. Humidity is not a problem with proper vapor proofing and ventilation either.
  23. My only complaint is that most of them look like designs from 1886. Oh well.
