Any ammo type illegal to possess *AT HOME*?
Mr.Stu replied to DirtyDigz's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
That's a way to become an owner of a firearm. When you transport it from the other state into NJ you had better follow the transport exemptions otherwise you will find it difficult to raise a defense if the gun is discovered if you're stopped on the side of the highway. Think of it this way... Shooting someone is illegal. You can make a claim that it was justified by asserting self defense. This is an affirmative defense. It doesn't stop you being arrested and charged and prosecuted. It may, however, prevent you being convicted if you succeed in court. The prosector's job is to assess the case and drop it if he believes that your assertion is likely to succeed thereby saving court time and expense. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk -

Technically, he's not. Possession of a firearm without first obtaining a permit is illegal. You can be arrested for this. The fact that you're at home can be used as an affirmative defense because of the exemption. You don't need a defense if you're not in court having charges. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk -
I went to register mine for the update last night and I couldn't because I bought it through the APP programme. I have to wait for them to come up with another process. I'm hoping that because the APP programme is primarily aimed at military, LEO and other first responders the overall process will be quicker. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Nick pretty much nailed it. I'll be holding a safety briefing for new shooters which you can sit in on as a refresher if you like. Sign up at https://somersetidpa.eventbrite.com If you're going to use a .45 sign up for CDP division. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Mrs Peel, I know you said early on that you didn't want to do IDPA yet, but please reconsider. This Sunday, 20th, I'll be running the monthly Somerset match in Bridgewater. Sandy will be there helping me run it too. We are very friendly to new shooters and there is no time pressure at all. In fact for new people we encourage them to go slowly. If you're interested, sign up at https://somersetidpa.eventbrite.com. It's free to book a spot and $10 on the day which covers your match fee and 2 slices of pizza. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

They have plates that can be set on top of the regular bench in the 50 yard range. They are kind of L shapes and can be fitted either way around to suit left or right handed shooters. Just ask the RO to set it up for you. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

I have the Weber spirit 310 - smallest 3 burner. Works well. Get the version Lowes sells, not the home Depot one. The front panel on the HAD one is easy to break. The Lowes one has a steel door. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

The form you fill in for them has check boxes. If you don't check the box for a FPID they won't generate one for you. The number assigned is your SBI number. It is your number in the State Bureau of Investigation. You get a number in that database if you have any background check done, e.g. For working with kids. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

Why don't people clean new guns before shooting them? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

The address on your FPID is irrelevant for a pistol transfer. You don't even need to have ever been issued one. All you need is a valid PtPP and a form of ID. If you use your DL I'm not sure if the address has to match if you can prove the address on the PtPP is yours some other way, maybe a utility bill? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

New Targets - Picked up some Newbold Targets
Mr.Stu replied to CyclingCraig's topic in Optics & Accessories
Ken uses them for rifle, pistol and shotgun at his 3 gun matches in Easton. He has found that hollowpoint and soft tip bullets take chunks out. Ball ammo is best for the longevity of these. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -
I have been thinking about the AR version. I have a pistol safe already. Does the rifle lock in place with a magazine seated? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

If you would like to attend this class, book your spot here: https://idpa-intro.eventbrite.com Thanks for the interest.

Almost any strong side hip holster is good. For men the front strap has to be above the belt line if it's OWB, ladies can use a drop-offset. IWB is also fine. No appendix carry, crossdraw or shoulder holsters. Mag pouches can be OWB or IWB. I recommend Safariland, Blade-tech and Comptac holsters. Others such as Fobus and Blackhawk don't have the same build quality. I would never recommend the Blackhawk Serpa. You also need a handgun 9mm/.38 special or larger and 3 magazines. EFGA have changed their procedures for using their special events bays so I'm working on getting then the paperwork they need. Dates will be set up once I have that squared away. "New software" slowing down permits at NJSP?
Mr.Stu replied to Mrs. Peel's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
I wrote to the governor on the state web site last night because my permits have been approved for 2 weeks but I still don't have them. I encourage everybody dealing with NJSP delays to do the same. They are flouting State law and EO180. I called for the superintendent to be fired. There is no sense in allowing the state's most senior police officer to break the law. If the law doesn't apply to him, why should it apply to anyone? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -
The Second Amendment vs. the Fourth Amendment
Mr.Stu replied to NJGF's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
On my property, doing chores? OWB is going to be more comfortable for a start. In the front yard I'd be inclined to wear my shirt over it so it could be mistaken for a phone or something on my belt. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -
I have one just to prevent the rim of the top round in a fresh magazine snagging on the back wall of the mag well on a quick reload. Dirt gets in anyway.

The common definition of reckless is doing something dangerous, knowing it is dangerous and doing it anyway. It's so much worse than doing something dangerous while being oblivious of the danger. I think wreckless means you didn't crash.

Gun is completely readied for firing - live round chambered, hammer/striker cocked, manual safety disengaged.
