  1. You can get the Sig at a discount too if you're LEO, military, other first responder or NRA instructor.
  2. I just picked a Sig P320 in .40. I did a side be side comparison with a VP40 and although it was nice the Sig was nicer. The modular design and DAO trigger really sold it to me.
  3. "We want well-trained, fit American citizens to have guns and use them for the defense of their family, for hunting, for sport,” he said. It's really hard to use a gun for defense if you have to leave it at home. "Hold on there chap! Please stop beating me while I run home to get my gun" Are these people born this way or are there special classes were you learn to suspend logical thought?
  4. I didn't say they looked bad on a black one. I haven't got a black one to try them on.
  5. The ones I have are the zebra and look really good on the stainless CZ
  6. I have a set of VZ diamond backs for a CZ75 that are surplus to requirements if your interested. Be aware they are very, very aggressive. I like them a lot but they hurt if you let the gun move in your hand - at least that's what I'm told. I just grip the living daylights out of them and I think they are fine. They are a little slimmer than stock grips so I'm going to replace them with the palm swell version. If you're interested make me an offer... https://vzgrips.com/pistol-grips/cz-75/cz-75-diamond-backs/cz-75-diamond-backs-zebra-g10
  7. I'm using tapatalk so don't see your location, but I'll be running the Somerset IDPA match next Sunday in Bridgewater. If you want to come reserve a spot by going to http://somersetidpa.eventbrite.com
  8. When you look through the barrel can you see any spiral shaped grooves? With "groups" that big it may be a smooth bore.
  9. What makes you think that would be "most likely" considering the NH judges ruled last year that it is illegal to require a home state permit?
  10. If NJ start issuing carry permits but at an exorbitant cost, why wouldn't I just keep carrying using my NH or UT permit and not give NJ any money at all. They've been screwing us all for so long there's no incentive to start paying them if/when this bill passes.
  11. Haven't had time to read the piece yet, but your summary is very concerning. What area does the 4th circuit cover?

    Triggers and CCW

I'm curious how trigger weight is even a factor if you don't claim to have accidentally fired the gun. If you are justified in shooting, the amount of pressure used to deliberately fire the gun seems irrelevant to me.
  13. Is that with a full mag or empty? My XD-45 and my XDm have the same thing with a full mag and the slide forward. The pressure of the rounds pushing against the slide makes it hard for the mag release to operate because of its design. The tab that catches the lip on the front of the mag is pivoted at the bottom so it actually rises slightly to release the mag. This means the mag has to rise too and under the full pressure of the mag spring when fully loaded makes that hard.
  14. I was told a funny story from many years ago in England where the bad guy couldn't find ammo for a 45 Webley and tried to use 45ACP instead. Apparently the catch that held the gun closed let go but the hinge held so the barrel was swinging in the breeze so to speak. BG gave up to the police art that point.
  15. The same ruling that forced Illinois to write laws to allow carry. The Supremes have spoken.

    Uplula

It seems like forever that when anyone has trouble loading the last one or two rounds into a mag they hand it to me. I do own the AR version for unloading mags quietly.
  17. I would be interested in this except they will only train US citizens according to the FAQ on their website. Maybe I'll convert to Merkin, maybe.
  18. If I remember correctly the premise is that possession of a firearm is illegal unless you have been issued a permit (FPID for long guns or carry permit for handguns). You may call upon the exemptions in the law as an affirmative defense. The onus is on you to prove you are innocent via the exemption. If you fail to prove that you are within an exemption the fact that you had a gun in your possession makes you guilty.
  19. If you don't have an FPID the exemptions apply to any firearms, long guns or hand guns. From memory it goes something like this. Stop worrying when you find the first rule that makes you legal: FOR LONG GUNS: You can't have a gun so don't have a gun. Except if you have an FPID. Except at your home, place of business (if you own the business), range, gun store or place of repair (gunsmith with FFL & NJ State license) Except if you're traveling directly between exempt locations (see above) FOR HANDGUNS: You can't have a gun so don't have a gun. Except if you have a carry permit (rocking horse excrement so we all rely on exemptions) Except at your home, place of business (if you own the business), range, gun store or place of repair (gunsmith with FFL & NJ State license) Except if you're traveling directly between exempt locations (see above)
  20. Jim, If you have an FPID you can put it in your car today, unloaded of course, and drive around with it until you get to your shoot. Just avoid schools and government buildings. To answer your question, there is nothing special regarding hotels in the law. If you don't have an FPID, you're SOL and have to drive directly to/from your residence and the range as you will be relying on a transportation exemption.
  21. How do you ever touch a gun without the first thing you do is check the condition of it? I do this every single time - no exceptions. Sometimes I expect it to be loaded and I check that it is. More often I expect it to be unloaded and that can be checked visually if the action is open before you touch it.
  22. This all day long. These safes are built out of decent steel and won't be trivial to pry. They use RFID technology to open which has been well proven for years - way better than finger prints - and there's no combo to remember under duress. They run off mains power with a battery backup and there's a key to override if both power sources fail. It even comes with a security cable to tie it to a hard to move object.
  23. "But the plans were on display…” “On display? I eventually had to go down to the cellar to find them.” “That’s the display department.” “With a flashlight.” “Ah, well, the lights had probably gone.” “So had the stairs.” “But look, you found the notice, didn’t you?” “Yes,” said Arthur, “yes I did. It was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying ‘Beware of the Leopard.'" Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, #1)
  24. Tenafly has something every Sunday evening
  25. What will often happen is the officer will want to take possession of your firearm for the duration of the stop for everybody's "safety". My opinion is the safest course is to leave it in the holster but what do I know?
