  1. I'm sorry for each of your losses, there is little that hurts more than the loss of a beloved friend.Sadly, I'd put off posting here because I couldn't find a good picture of my buddy Porter, Unfortunately, we had to put him down this morning.
  2. I used to shoot at ray's in the 80s and it was one of a kind... North Plainfield though, not Union. My understanding was that Ray ran the place into his 90s and by the time he offered it to his kids, they were already retired themselves (comfortably) and had no interest in going back to work. The $13M that the neighboring Nissan dealer offered for the property was probably more than the business was worth. It's a shame to lose a range, especially in such an under-served area, but if his kids weren't interested I can't blame him for taking the cash.
  3. Page 4 leaves me thinking there are 2 possibilities. 1) The state seems to have conceded that 2A exists and applies to "all instruments that constitute bearable arms, even those that were not in existence at the time of the founding" and it should be a no-brainer to use this to overturn justifiable need. 2) You will need to show justifiable need to obtain a stun gun permit. It could go either way...
  4. I'd been thinking of my dishwasher, but my cordless hammer drill is a lot closer to the shape of a 1911.
  5. She saw it on a Facebook group (springfield nj uncensored) and I am not a member so I don't have access to it. I was thinking of that spot, but a renovation in an existing space might be less conspicuous.
  6. It would be, I live in Springfield and RTSP and GFH are both 30 minutes away on a good day.
  7. My wife was reading a local forum and found something about a new indoor range under construction in Union. The only info on location was "rt 22," and that it would be similar to RTSP and GFH. The poster stated that permits were in place and construction was under way. I'm a little surprised that I haven't seen anything here, maybe I missed it. Can anyone confirm or deny?
  8. I don't remember seeing this case here before. The governor is his last hope. He doesn't stand a chance unless the case is popular enough for Crisco to step in. http://abc7ny.com/news/exclusive-decorated-marine-fighting-for-his-freedom-after-mandatory-gun-sentence/1865190/
  9. Environmental, aka haz-mat, specifically a "bottle packer."
  10. If it's big enough to be registered, it is, legally, an aircraft. "Taking it down" will get you in the same trouble as "taking down" a 767. You might not want to go to the PD with it.
  11. My track car has been totaled at least twice. I got it cheap because I knew it had been hit and had some minor issues and if I were to sell it I'd disclose this info (the title doesn't reflect the history and it doesn't show up on Carfax either). Likewise with real estate, certain things may impact resale value but they will have the same impact on your purchase price, so the idea that it is not a sound investment is absurd. I live close enough to a highway to get a little road noise on the deck. The highway was there when I bought the house and it will be there when I sell it too. Same would be true of a house near high tension lines, a pipeline, train tracks, etc. The argument could be made that known contamination can be remediated leading to an increase in value. The worst scenario would be to buy where there is no contamination and have it be discovered later. I take the geoweb info with a grain of salt, plenty of things don't show up (like the fill my neighborhood is built on).
  12. "Arguably it meets the definition" can be problematic. If I had a lighter that could fire a 9mm round would it be legal to carry it, it's a lighter still, primarily. If that logic works, I'm gonna make a freaking bundle by brazing Zippos to derringers and sellin em all over NJ. Justifiable need is no longer an issue.
  13. LOL, there's a couple corporate parks, the first one that came to mind is in Watchung and I do sit in that crap every day. I used to enjoy driving...
  14. It's pretty funny to me that someone from Warren is batching about traffic. My morning commute involves the 5 lights along Mountain Blvd. At 6-6:15 I'll usually get at least 2 or 3 of emails red, usually without another car in sight. Home is worse. Warren and Watchung actually have school busses that stop at each and every house. Seriously, what other town does thaThat? Three kids live in 3 consecutive houses ant the busses stop at each house. That's how you teach kids about instant gratification, can't have Jr walk 40 yards now can we. That's top of the line socialism.
  15. Why not cut out the middleman and look up which states have the highest reliance on these social programs? Most programs include federal funding so if it's the programs that are the problem, state taxes aren't the best indicator. It took me all of 1 minute to find a recent article listing DC, Mississippi, New Mexico, West Virginia, Oregon, Tennessee and Louisiana as having the highest percentage of residents on food stamps. All in excess of 18%. Personally, I think you're wasting your time. The problem is with the "Haves," not the "Have-nots." Go take a look at a list of states by affluence. Maryland, New Jersey, California, Connecticut, DC and Massachusetts are the top of the list, all very blue and among the worst when it comes to 2A. The cities are only part of the problem, we just don't have the trailer parks to balance it out.
  16. I'm sorry to hear that, it's always hard to say goodbye to an old friend.
  17. Middle of nowhere when it comes to ranges. I'm 30 minutes from GFH and RTSP, but anything worth bringing a long gun is much further. Old Bridge, Cherry Ridge and EFGA are all about an hour. I'd love to join somewhere but I wouldn't make the trip often enough to justify the expense. I'm so close I can hear it from my deck. It's, as it's name implies, a police training range that is open to the public on a very limited basis. The fee is for the ID card that shows you've been to the safety briefing. IIRC there's a bullseye league that has the place one night a week and they are open weekends in spring, summer and fall. I go boating most weekends for those months so I'm not around when it's open. I've gotta say, I work in Middlesex and the options from there seem a lot better.
  18. So, a Mosin is a REAL rifle and 6.5 creedmoor is no good for distance. I'll try to remember that.
  19. LOL, the problem with a democracy is that 75% don't agree with you? You might want to rethink your entire post, the only way it makes any sense is if you make some pretty wild assumptions with little basis in reality.
  20. It's a non-event, like removing a teaspoon of water from an ocean. Christie is trying to fix his image with a move that does virtually nothing for us. Those who are stupid enough to support this BS are part of the problem. Stop thanking him for the crumbs and demand better.
  21. All WiFi can be hacked, there is never a good reason to trust any wireless security equipment.
  22. This thread has made me thirsty, think I'll take a walk over to wine library. Walking prevents me from bringing home more than I can carry.
  23. I couldn't find it either, probably lost in all the other fake news.
