Bluewater78 0 Posted March 15, 2021 Looking for some clarification on what an illegal pistol grip actually is. I want to purchase a Weatherby Element but Weatherby states it has a pistol grip, even though it looks more like a nub than an actual pistol grip. Is it legal to own this gun in NJ? Thanks for any responses.
njJoniGuy 2,131 Posted March 15, 2021 https://weatherby.com/shotguns/element/ Certainly does NOT look like a NJ-prohibited Pistol Grip to me. I'm not a lawyer, but I did date the hot desk clerk at the Holiday Inn Express once!
JohnnyB 4,325 Posted March 16, 2021 It's about the stock style. It is Not a pistol grip and you are good to go! 100% PRNJ legal.....Today anyway!
Krdshrk 3,877 Posted March 16, 2021 It's not a pistol grip by NJ Definition: "Pistol grip" means a well-defined handle, similar to that found on a handgun, that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon, and which permits the shotgun to be held and fired with one hand. There's no actual pistol grip beneath the action. It's just the stock style with the curve downward.
